Need to be more creative? Give yourself a “Whack on The Side of the Head”

Can you train yourself to be a better creative thinker? Answer: Yes! Everyone can be more creative, so says Roger von Oech, author of a great little book called “A Whack on the Side of the Head - How You Can Be More Creative”. Apparently the brain comes in two halves. The left-hemisphere is associated with logical and sequential thinking - the sort of analytical thinking that accountants, engineers, and scientists do. The right side of the brain is associated with pattern thinking, visualization, and intuition rather than logic—the kind of thinking that painters and poets engage in.

When we are children we can uses both sides of our brains quite easily in play, but as we grow older our socialization and education tends to push us towards using our left brain. This leaves many people with under-developed right brains due to under use. It’s like exercising your left arm when you go to the gym but not working out with your right arm—you will feel a little out of balance with a bulging left bicep and a wimpy right handshake!

So go get yourself a “A Whack on the Side of the Head - How You Can Be More Creative” and do the work out exercises for your right brain. Who knows—there may be a creative genius in there waiting to get out!

How are you creative? How are you creative? - We often hear entrepreneurs say that they're "creative", but that could mean multiple things. For instance, if you say you're creative, does that refer to your drawing ability, musical talent or ability to think outside the box? How are you creative?

Re: Did you reach your goal this year? Re: Did you reach your goal this year? - I finally realized the subconcious mind achieves LARGE goals just as easily as small goals. All the RIGHT people are now showing up to manifest my BIG GOALS now. It's been interesting and worth sharing. [Side Note: Be prepared for them when they come. Some ppl think it's too good to be true.] Take it anyway....
Re: Have a Security Clearance Question? But are afraid to ask? Re: Have a Security Clearance Question? But are afraid to ask? - I think I've already addressed your topic in another forum or thread, but I think the easiest way to generate additional traffic to your web site is to provide content that is fresh, new, and insightful. Give users a reason to access your web site besides purchasing your services. Give them a reason to gain knowledge and they will come back and give you business when they can. Good luck in your campaign, and I hope everything turns out for you! One question I have is do security clearances check your family information as well (family criminal offences, etc).
Where to find Creativity? Where to find Creativity? - I was thinking about this the other day and I noticed there were situations I found myself in constantly where I was the most creative but in no particular order: 1. drinking coffee at Starbucks *while* people watching 2. taking a shower 3. while sitting in a seminar/class 4. sometimes while driving What are your most creative moments?
