Where is This Country's Integrity --- Navy Seals

Guest post by: Dr. Rick Johnson

Article Overview: Media sensationalism can have a dramatic impact on public opinion. It's often times hard to ignore. Think about the Tiger Woods incident or what the American Idol's Adam Lambert who Tracy used to adore until he performed his perverted sexual imitation on stage at the American Music Awards. Then there are the White House party crashers; the media just can't seem to get enough of these stories that really have nothing to do with the substance of society except that they demonstrate how low we have sunk. The major news papers and most of the television news channels just can't get enough of "Balloon Boy", "The Octamom", Tiger's Sex Life", "The Health Care Fiasco" and many other non sense stories and yet one of the most devastating- patriotism destroying morale destroying decisions of the century is getting very little coverage.

Where is This Country's Integrity --- Navy Seals

Media sensationalism can have a dramatic impact on public opinion.

I'm talking about the impending court marshal of three Navy Seals for allegedly punching a terrorist in the mouth and stomach and giving him a bloody lip. This isn't just some terrorist. It is the terrorist that masterminded the slaughter of four Americans, burned their bodies, drug them through the streets of Fallujah and hung them on a bridge. These three Seals are brave soldiers and should be commended for the capture of this mad man. Instead Mathew McCabe, Jonathon Keefe and Julio Huertas face a court marshal instead of receiving a heroism medal.

This story should be on the nightly news across the nation. It is a horrific act against the moral fiber of our soldiers and the sacrifice they make to keep us safe. Instead, short of Fox News, nobody is talking about it in prime time. Instead we hear about the part crashers and balloon boy for crying out loud. Where is our integrity?

I really don't want to believe that our main stream media has an agenda. I really want to believe that we still cherish freedom of the press. But I have to ask myself, "What the Hell is going on?" As a former military person my heart goes out to these seals and to every other former military person that is wondering the same thing I am wondering; whose side is this country's media on? Whose side is this country on?

If I were still in the military I might just have second thoughts on when to pull the trigger; on whether to capture or kill; a decision that could get me killed. Just how do our young fighting men handle this? Will they lose confidence in our leadership? Will they lose confidence in our country?

Just how do we defend taking the word of a terrorist killer over three honorable Seals over a simple bloody lip? I got worse than that in boot camp for bouncing while I marched. We are at War - it's high time somebody told the leaders of this country that. Better yet, why don't we give them a gun and let them spend some time on the front lines in Afghanistan or Yemen. Even better, lets invite every investigative reporter from the major news media to be their point men.

Re: Does birth order influence the desire to start a business? Re: Does birth order influence the desire to start a business? - Well, I'm the youngest of three children. My brother and sister both went into the military, I didn't. (I would have, but was too overweight on the day I was to ship out.... and in any event I know I didn't really want to go in...) My brother, since he's got out of the Navy, has jumped from job to job -- all in the same field (aircraft dispatch), but still he stays one place for a couple of years and moves on.... which is biting him in the behind now that the aviation industry is suffering and he's hit the big 5-0.... no job, and precious little savings... My sister, on the other hand, just retired from her 20 years in the military, her hubby is still in, and they have a 10 year old son (the one who wouldn't read a book if his life depended on it...) And then there's me... spending all my time in front of a computer working on webzines..
Re: Credit unions... Re: Credit unions... -
[/quote:3d0zjo01] Hi, Buzz... At the moment, I think there's only upside in getting a loan from a credit union. The downside is that you have to actually [i:3d0zjo01]belong [/i:3d0zjo01]to the credit union. So the Navy, for example, has its own credit union, I'd assume the other services do as well, federal workers have a credit union, etc. etc. So unless you already belong to a credit union, this advice probably won't help!
Re: The Celebrity Apprentice Finale Re: The Celebrity Apprentice Finale - Well, the results are in and Piers is The Celebrity Apprentice. I know Piers raised more money than Trace and I know this was a race for raising money for charity, but I'm still disappointed with the ethics that Piers used in order to win. I like how Trump's son asked Piers something along the line if Piers would have won if Trace would have had as impressive of a roladex. I also like how Trump's daughter asked if he would have raised as much money if he had actually been nice. Personally, I would enjoy working with Trace and be able to trust him on my team. I'm not sure I would trust Piers and this means I would not prefer to partner with him. Integrity is incredibly important to me. I think a values based model in business is where we need to head as a society. If this doesn't happen, the results will be less than savory. I'm not sure I like the message this show has portrayed.

Re: Men don't wear ties (necktie: US) like before! Re: Men don't wear ties (necktie: US) like before! -
So the real question is how many suits do you think is appropriate? And that comes from industry and nature of position. Someone in a client-facing role probably don't want to look exactly the same 3 days out of a week[/quote:kwvt7hj1] Hi Ringo, All the jobs I've ever worked at have had a business casual dress code, so I've never required many suits or ties. Right now, I only have 1 black suit (for weddings, funerals and job interviews), and 3 casual/sports blazers for going out. However, I think it would be ideal to have at least 3-4 suits. Black suit - for weddings and funerals. Navy blue suit - for job interviews and meetings. Beige suit - for summer or parties in the warmer weather. *For me, the charcoal gray suit is a bit boring, while the one with pinstripes is supposed to be the "power suit"... but I find it's more complimentary for older gentlemen.
