5 Ways To Get A Job

I’m going to throw up if I read another Top 5 Tips to Help You Get a Job article.

Most authors and pundits fail to concede that the job market is smaller, there are fewer opportunities out there, and you probably won’t get a job from following career tips on the internet.

That being said, here are my five tips that I’ve blogged about over the past two years.

1. Have a skill and be good at it. This includes typing, answering phones, bussing tables, folding jeans, and stocking shelves. If you can produce a solution for a problem in the marketplace, you can get a job.
2. Don’t be picky. You think you’re too good to work at Burger King? You’re wrong.
3. Don’t be needy. Desperate people do desperate things, and I would never hire someone who needs the job more than I need to fill an opening. If you feel needy, address it. Talk to a counselor, volunteer your time, or get some perspective by spending time with needier people. Then apply for a job.
4. Don’t be stupid. If you lack a high school diploma, get your GED. If you want your bachelor’s degree but wonder how you’ll find the time, go to school online. Do you dislike the idea of college? Go to trade school. The world will always need plumbers and electricians.
5. Don’t be greedy. I know you used to make $100,000. Right now, you make no dollars. I’m not very good at math, but some money is better than no money. Don’t disqualify yourself from an opportunity just because it pays less than you’re used to earning.

Nearly everyone who reads this blog is either unemployed or underemployed. I wonder why you’re not on CNN or The Today Show talking about tips and tricks to get a job? What’s stopping you?

[/quote:39vg8s93] If at all possible, you need to stop using Kinko's now and go price some real printers. It should cost only a couple of dollars a piece, if that, to print your book. Admittedly you'll have to buy in bulk, but the overall savings - selling a $2 book for $20 so that you make an $18 profit instead of a measley $10.... is something every kidpreneur should think about!
Revenue Streams for Websites - Too funny, I was just reading a book: Multiple Streams of Internet Income: How Ordinary People make extraordinary money on line, by Robert G. Allen. 2001 That's a misnomer, though - they're not ordinary people, they're people with established careers who can take their expertise and exploit it on the web. Ways to generate income? 1) Sell your own material on the site. Ebooks, etc. 2) Join various affiliate programs that match what your website is about. 3) Google adsense - All my money comes from this... it's started out slow but as readership of my sites grown, the income has grown. Nothing to write home about yet... 4) Google adwords - the advertisers whose ads show up on Google Adsense. Unless you're selling big ticket items on your site you don't want to use it, your keywords can cost from 20 cents upwards.
Re: Need A Review Of My Internet Marketing Blog - Hi Jay, I tend to agree with the others. You have obviously put a great deal of effort into your site which you can be proud of and the content is great but there is just too much of it. As soon as I landed on your home page I was immediately distracted by a pop up message followed by another banner at the bottom-not good. I want to see your site and what you have to offer. A lot of visitors will just exit out at this point when what you want them to do is stick around and ‘take action’ by signing up to one of your offers. Try to streamline your site into your banker offers and a few others and if you want to lead people away from your front page to specific niche offers all about perhaps ’surveys’ or ‘data entry’ then just include a side widget for something like ‘Other Ways To Make Money On The Interent’ and take them away to another page with different banners etc but not all on your front page as they will be totally confused by all the offers and leave. My site below is very new with limited content to very specific offers and over the coming months I will be developing it to cover other linked pages to other areas of interest for the visitors, best wishes, Mal.
