Employers: What is a professional recruitment service?

As an employer it can be a minefield when you have made the important decision, "I need to recruit a person for my team". I would like to give you my take on this; I hope you find this advice useful.

What is a professional recruitment service?

First, the recruitment agency/ business acknowledge they are a service company and as such need to deliver to their customers needs and be flexible where they can.

If I were an employer seeking a recruitment agency to help me source a valuable member to my team I would look for the following:

Proof of quality supply. Requestto trial the service, request an example CV, ask for employer testimonials to be supplied, or ask to speak with other satisfied employers that the agency currently supplies).

Proof of quality service. Does the recruitment agency have a service level agreement for its customers? What are the standards the company adheres to? What do the Directors of thebusiness stand for and what is their philosophy?

Proof of professional memberships. In the UK Recruitment companies can be members of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) , Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo) and Association of Recruitment Consultancies( ARC). Being member of these organisations does not guarantee a professional recruitment service, but is a good indication that the recruitment agency should follow quality procedures, the bodies "code of conduct",and have passed a qualification process to gain membership (this includes supplying many positive testimonials).

Adaptability. Every business is distinct; they have their own needs, work to a different financial and management models. Good recruitment businesses need to adapt their delivery model to their customers' needs and wants, being bold enough to advise the employer with their opinion on how the employer can be more efficient with their recruitment process.

Re: NEW VIDEO - How to Improve Your Employee Retention - Ask Eva Re: NEW VIDEO - How to Improve Your Employee Retention - Ask Eva - Hi Evan, Thanks for the video, you sure have a nice relaxed style of presentation whilst giving really solid professional advice as always. I am sure Shauna will appreciate your tips and whilst I am self employed without employees as such, your advice also applies to many of our online activities. I like your advice on recruitment, support and development which also sits well with affiliate team building and general downline support in many of the ventures that the members here are involved with, thanks again, great stuff, Mal.
Ideal professional services provider Ideal professional services provider - Hi James, What I like in a professional service provider is that they go beyond their area of expertise to try to help your business grow. They try to introduce you to other clients or people in their network who might help you. If they come across an article that might be of interest to you, they send it. They give you suggestions for your business based on the other companies they have seen and worked with. My lawyer, financial advisor, and accountant are all great at helping me grow my business beyond providing their professional services (still working on my banker!). This is why I use them and I send many of my friends and associates to them.
Re: Should bad tippers be exposed on Social Media? Re: Should bad tippers be exposed on Social Media? - I agree with you GT and Evan, A tip as far as I understand it is given according to the service received and if a customer is unhappy with the service they should be entitled to not leave a tip. If it was really bad then a complaint should be made to management. If the server is unhappy that there is no tip, maybe they should consider the kind of service they are giving to customers but under no circumstances should these things ever be broadcast on a social service or any public format for that matter. Re: Service Or Product? Re: Service Or Product? - Very insightful, and I totally aggree, service first... it is a substantial foundation for any business. Products and service go hand in hand to make a business really successful. Nevertheless quality control for both is also actually a must; you will never offer services that are not par with the standards neither with products. Focusing on the product aspect, in stores or in deliveries or in any other way you get to sell your products there is a pinch of service involved. Even after a product is sold "customer service hotlines" is another form of service buyers somehow expect from you. So IMHO service or product are like chicken and eggs... lol,,,
Re: Template of Service Agreement/Contractor Agreement Re: Template of Service Agreement/Contractor Agreement - Shimmy- I, too, would be happy to share my template contract for a service provider. But beware, a template agreement may not be sufficient to properly address your needs. Some key differences between Employees and Service Providers: 1. Tax Status. Employers are responsible for withholding tax on employee's earnings. Independent Contractors are responsible for reporting their income/taxes. There is a significant reporting burden and liability associated with this. 2. Confidentiality/Intellectual Property. Often times, employee handbooks will specify an employees confidentiality obligations and many states impute a duty of loyalty. Contractors are under no such obligations absent a written agreement. Same thing for IP/Creative works. The copyright Act draws a sharp and significant distinction between employees and contractors when it comes to ownership of creative works. 3. Liability for tortious acts. Generally an employer is liable for the tortious acts of its employees under the theory of respondeat superior. An entity hiring a contractor may/may not be liable, but without a written agreement for the contractor to indemnify/defend the hiring entity, their may be little recourse against the contractor. There are many other subtle differences too numerous to mention. I hope you find this helpful.
