How do you get offered a job working in the recruitment industry?

Here are some questions you need to ask yourself, prior to applying for a recruitment job. Your answer should be YES to all these questions, to ensure you have the best chance of getting an interview request, but more importantly being offered a job in recruitment.

CV submission

Is your CV the best it can be?

Have you given a compelling reason to the company to consider or interview you? How pro-active have you been in getting their attention?

Have you called the company to discuss your abilities and why you want to work for them specifically?

Has your CV been sent to the decision maker?

Have you followed up your CV submission with a phone call or email to confirm receipt and next steps? Offered an interview

Have you left plenty of time to get to the interview? Arrive no later or earlier than 10 minutes prior to the agreed interview start time.

Have you thoroughly researched the company?

Could you sell the services the company provides to one of their customers?

Do you know who is interviewing you and something interesting about them that you have in common? Type in the interviewer name on the internet and see what you can find!

Have you read the job specification and have you highlighted all the skills and experiences you have that would fit well to this new job?

Have you got all documentary evidence to support your application? Such as pay slips, commission forms, letters of recommendation, certificates, etc.

All for now. I hope this has been insightful. Good luck.

Re: outsourcing sales Re: outsourcing sales - I opened a business bank account last week and as part of the package I got a free session with a marketing expert. i met her a few days ago. She has a lot of experience and gave me an insight into the industry I'm getting into and what is required to succeed. She recommended I recruit a salesperson to attend appointments instead of learning to sell myself. In any case she offered her services to assist me. Her company has a great reputation. She offered to build a database of potential leads, use one of her experienced telesales staff to book appointments, create a media kit and support me with other marketing activities on an ongoing basis if I wish. If you were starting a businesss from scratch in an industry in which you had no experience or prior knowledge would you take all the help you could get even if it's going to be substantially more expensive than trying to do it all yourself, because my instincts tell me I should take her up on her offer. How much would you think is an average charge to create a media kit, build a database of 200 potential customers and call them to book appointments?
Book Advances Book Advances - Hello I am also working on a book does anyone know anything about the publishing industry? A friend was telling me that often authors once a publisher is interested in working with them they can receive a book advance, is this true?
Trade fairs relevant for established business Trade fairs relevant for established business - I think trade fair participation is good... you get to network with other people and make new connections that you can make use of, you get to see what is offered in the industry and stay up to date, and you get to tell people all about you, even if you are a newly established company, still you will have the chance to let others know that you exist and what you do.. You can participate as an exhibitionist or as a visitor...
Resources within the government Resources within the government - One of the first things I did as I started up was to take a few classes offered by the Small Business Administration. I'm not sure if Nigeria offers similar services, but people from the United States can tap into those resources pretty easily. The classes offered a business planning template, time to start your plan and great advice from other entrepreneurs. Best of luck!
Mentors Mentors - He has a mentor that has a wealth of surplus experience and he's working with me and I have years of retail and management experience and have taught many people who've done well in business. I was pleased to hear that he does grasp how much he has to learn and is willing to get the help he needs. I've talked with many people over the years who have no idea they need help and refuse help when its offered. Shri
