8 Ways to Build a Subscriber List

A subscriber list is an important component of your online marketing toolkit. A subscriber list allows you to stay in touch with customers and prospects alike. A subscriber list should never be static; no matter how large your subscriber list is, you should always be looking to add to it. There are many ways to grow your subscriber list, 8 of which are listed below:

1. The most common way to grow your subscriber list is via an opt-in (sign-up) form on your website. Because people are spam-weary, you will need to offer an incentive to get people to give you their email address. To get people to subscribe to my ezine, Solo Act, I offer them a free copy of my ebook, "50+ Ways a Human Resource Virtual Assistant Can Help an Independent Human Resource Consultant," as an incentive.

2. If you have JV (joint venture) partners, you may be able to put an opt-in box on their website or in their ezine (online newsletter). Again, you will need to offer something in return for the email addresses you collect. If you don't have an ebook, white paper or report of your own to offer, you can purchase PLR (private label rights) reports to offer.

3. Social networking (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+, etc.) is another avenue for growing your subscriber list. Tweet or post a status update, with a link to your website opt-in form or landing/sales page. In addition, many LinkedIn groups will allow you to post an offer to sign up for your list (check the group's rules before posting). Don't forget to offer that incentive to get your social networking contacts to part with their email address.

4. Hosting a free, information-packed teleseminar or webinar is another way to get people to give you their email address. Anyone who signs up for your teleseminar of webinar is unofficially agreeing to receive further communication from you. However, I strongly encourage you to include the following statement on your teleseminar/webinar signup form:

"By signing up for this teleseminar/webinar, I understand that I am agreeing to receive further email communications from Company SYZ. I understand that I can opt-out from these communications at any time. I also understand that my information will not be sold to or used by any company other than Company SYZ."

5. Put your email signature to good use, and include a line that says something to the effect of:

"Subscribe to Company SYZ's ezine (or updates, etc.) at (insert link here)"

at the bottom of every email message you send.

6. Have an ezine? In every issue, include the link to sign up for your newsletter under the heading: Forward to a Friend.

7. Got a contact page on your website? Just before the submit button, include a check box that automatically signs the submitter up for your ezine/updates.

8. Lastly, you can purchase email lists online. To find email lists to purchase, simply Google "buy opt-in email lists" (without the quotation marks) and you'll be presented with approximately 2,160,000 search results. Alert, Alert Will Robinson: using purchased email lists may be a violation of the Can Spam Act. No matter how much a purchased email list provider swears that the list he is selling you is 100% opt-in verified (hey, people have been known to lie), you can't really be sure of that, and the Can Spam Act holds you, the purchaser and user of the list, responsible for making sure you're emailing only to people who have agreed to let you email them. I urge you do not use purchased email lists.

No matter how you build your subscriber list, remember to email responsibly. Don't bombard your list with sales messages. Provide your list members with free, useful information, otherwise, your list numbers will plummet.

What do you think of my list? Do you have other ways to grow a subscriber list?

Re: Autoresponder v Blog Feed Subscriptions... Re: Autoresponder v Blog Feed Subscriptions... - They get updates by email only. Your question prompted me to check out the Feedburner email subscription page and I noticed down the bottom that you CAN view the email addresses of your subscribers. Feedburner.google.com => Publicize ==> email Subscriptions: scroll down to the bottom and click "View Subscriber Details". You can also modify the first email notification that goes out, include a link to a logo for branding purposes and set the time of day you want the updates to go out. Pretty neat! DH
Re: Great start, but no finish Re: Great start, but no finish - My advise is FOCUS on your business. Focusing is the main factor to succeed on business. If you have a great idea, then follow it only, don't look anywhere else. It is especially essential in an online business. Because there are a lot of mind blowing sales letters promising millions dolllars or overnight success, people find it difficult to concentrate on one business and they lose their energy. Concept is simple. 1- Have a good idea; 2- Build your business on it; 3- Monetize your business; 4- Promote it; 5- Build list of responsive customers; 6- Maintain You Business. Focusing and not fearing from competition (instead you can learn from competitiors) are main tips of billionaires ,BTW. Orxan
Re: How to do Link Building? Re: How to do Link Building? - Be diligent. Build blogs.Pay attention to the contents.
Re: Email autoresponder messages: what delivery intervals? Re: Email autoresponder messages: what delivery intervals? - Sub-lists are primarily created around the products I own. If my list A was about one topic, I will not promote anything to that list about another topic until I first have them opt-in to another list. Example of this is, let's say you were interested in internet marketing and you opted-in to a list for driving traffic (List A). I will not send information about product creation tips to that list unless I first have you opt-in for another list (List B). These two may be close enough so that might not be an issue, but what I find is most internet marketers drive all their promotions to their one and only list they own. So one day, it's about teaching mom-pop offline businesses about marketing, another day about oh let's market on Facebook, next day about, hey I found great product on promoting stuff on Mobile or cell phones, next week, let's talk about Amazon's Kindle, then Pinterest... You get what I mean. If I have to do above, it will be after subscribers decided not to buy any of my own products. Then I will send other promos to that list. But I think by minimum, it's good to create sub-lists for buyers of your own products so that you can send more advanced and higher end items exclusive to that list.
