2011 Office Spring Cleaning

After a harsh winter of snow, snow, and even more snow for most of the country, it’s seems like everyone is looking forward to the spring weather! Part of preparing for the new season is the usual spring cleaning not only of one’s home, but also at the office. Besides the physical cleaning that most everyone will undertake, Human Resources should take the time to make sure software is up to date and to research possible upgrades in office management. In this issue ofAstronology, we take a look into the fun, and sometimes seemingly daunting task of office spring cleaning.

The Physical Spruce-Up

The career-advice blogJobaclegive these tips to combat the winter germs that may have crept into your office over the winter months:

The PC Spruce-Up

Besides physically cleaning up your PC, make sure all software is up to date and that unnecessary files aren’t cluttering your desktop. File away all files in folders. Just as it’s important to file away physical paperwork, it’s just as important to organize your electronic desktop. It will make retrieving files a whole lot easier for you and for others if an emergency or other office panic ensues.PCWorld, technology review website, also suggests using automatic clean-ups to keep your computer clutter free.

The Office Management Spruce-Up

Astron Solutions encourages our clients and colleagues to increase their Human Resource efficiency. One of the popular upgrades in this category involves moving talent management systems onto a web-based platform. For example, Astron offers Flare™, a component modular talent management suite customizable to fit the needs of every client. Some of the Flare™ modules include

Whether it’s a small step or a large one, the key to success is doing something. “Inertia and procrastination are the downfall of many of us,” states National Director Jennifer Loftus. According to Jennifer, “start with shredding one report you no longer need, or throwing away one yellowed cutout cartoon from the comics hanging on your bulletin board. Before you know it, momentum will take over and you’ll have a fresh new office space.” Happy Spring Cleaning!

Help me name my moms business Help me name my moms business - I think Infinity Cleaning Services sounds better than Elite Cleaning Solutions... Why the Solutions? What is there to be solved? You simply get a rag with some Windex on it and wipe away.... plug the vacuum and Vac Away, get a mop and mop away. Stick to Infinity Cleaning Services... ICS sounds cool...
Help me name my moms business Help me name my moms business - My Mom is a dynamic entrepreneur and running several businesses. Recently she started a commercial cleaning business. I have thought of some name for my mom's cleaning business, but would like some other suggestions. I have narrowed it down to, either: Infinity Cleaning Services, or Elite Cleaning Solutions. She is located in South Florida, and many of the other names are taken. Thanks,

Re: I got a pop up! Re: I got a pop up! - [quote="ChrisH":31c1e714] About the logo - the first thing I would change would be to take out the "C" and use the broom for the letter C. Chris[/quote:31c1e714] Funny. In my mind I had the broom replacing the "l" in Cleaning. But now that I look, of course you're right, the broom should replace the "C."
Good Advice for Beating Depression and the February Blahs! Good Advice for Beating Depression and the February Blahs! - Thanks everyone. Your feedback and tips are great. I have also been recommending to clients (and doing this myself) that they go back and revisit their mission/vision for their company. I find it recharges the meaning behind why we are working so hard. I also went to the salon for a girls day! Life does seem so much better when your toes look good. As far as isolation goes, I found the concept of building an Advisory Board/Team to be a huge benefit. With my team I can talk freely and openly and I have made some lifelong friendships to boot. Spring is just around the corner everyone....Keep up the great work! J
