You Are In Charge of Your Own Limitations
Who knows our limitations? Who knows our abilities? Who is the only person in control of our goals, aspirations, and horizons? It's us. No one may label us. We set our limitations and abilities, and we are the only ones who can change them.
I've gotten jobs before when I knew less than I should have. I knew that I lacked information, but I had confidence that I would be able to do the job and find out the information I needed.
Oprah Winfrey tells a story about her early days in journalism that illustrates the same principal.
I sort of began to create my own luck. I said I knew how to edit when I didn't. I said I knew how to report on stories. When I went to my first city council meeting, I wasn't quite sure of what to do, but I told the news director that I did. You have to be willing to admit that you know nothing. So I walked into the city council meeting and announced to everybody there, "This is my first day on the job, and I don't know anything. Please help me because I have told the news director at Channel 5 that I know what I'm doing. Pleeeeze help me." And they did. And from that point on all those councilmen became my friends, and I'd come in the council meeting, and they helped me out. And I realize now it was because of my willingness to say, "I don't know, but if you will just, you know, help me." So that's how I learned. -- Oprah Winfrey Achievement Interview
There's a certain freedom in admitting that you don't know something.
There is a motivation training video that helps people learn about attitudes and limitations. It's called Either Way, You're Right. The video uses the hard-won triumphs of Dan Jansen, Steven Speilberg, and Oprah Winfrey as examples.
This inspiring video is a message of hope for people who let their perceived limitations get in the way of success. Even the most pessimistic viewers will learn how to set their sights higher -- both personally and professionally.
They'll come face to face with some of the greatest personal triumphs of our time -- stories of people who overcame incredible obstacles to push the envelope of success.
Either Way You're Right is perfect for department meetings...career development programs...technical training...brainstorming sessions...management seminars...and much more. It's the ideal way to foster a lasting "can do" attitude. It's guaranteed to help viewers rethink what's holding them back from excellence!
How-To Training Points:
How to maintain your stamina for reaching goals
How to believe in your dreams, regardless of age or disability
How to practice perseverance in the face of criticism
How to quit dreaming and take action

By admitting to ourselves that we lack knowledge or certain abilities we set our own limitations, however, since we are the ones to set those limitations, we are the ones who can expand our limits and the boundary of our ability.
We must believe in ourselves, we must decide what we want to do, we must set our own course, AND we must work hard to get where we want to be.
