After Health Insurance - Finding The Best Doctors Resources

After you get health insurance, the next step is to find the right resources so you can find the best doctors to meet your needs. These days, it seems like finding health insurance is only half the battle. Once you've taken that step and chosen the coverage that fits your budget and your needs, you have to take a few more steps to find the right doctors within your network for you. This can sometimes feel like a major undertaking but if you know what you're looking for and how to go about finding the information you seek, you might find that it's much easier than you thought it would be.

Look for good resources through your health insurance

Many people forget about what a valuable resource their health insurance websites can be but it's a good start to finding in network health care providers of all kinds. You'll find that some companies even rate the doctors in their networks and many feature comments and information about each doctor's practice philosophy. This is often a great starting point for people who are seeking the best doctor for their needs.

Referrals are so important

Much in the way that you would have talked to friends and neighbors to get information before there was the internet, making use of referrals from friends and neighbors is a really good way to find out if a doctor will meet your needs or not. When you're asking, make sure to find out about important factors such as bedside manner, did the doctor have time to address all questions and how thorough was the doctor in question during an exam. This will help you to decide if you should visit the doctor your friends have all recommended or not.

Don't be afraid to do some interviews before you choose

Depending on your needs, you might want to do a couple of interviews before you choose a health care provider. For instance, if you're having a baby you may want to meet with a couple of different obstetricians to see how you get along before you've made a final choice. You can go in for an initial check up and get an idea that way, or you can let them know that you'd like to "talk" to them before deciding that you will use them as your doctor. Essentially, what you're looking for is what kind of care your doctor is going to take of you and how you feel around him or her.

Check the important stuff yourself

Finally, before you make your choice, it's a good idea to check up on any doctor's credentials and find out about their overall ratings. The best doctor for you should also be a very good doctor, so you know that you're getting health care that will be worth it in the long run and keep you healthy. You can check doctor ratings at many different places online, but one that might be worth trying is Ucompare healthcare, which is a property of About.com, but is free to use and you won't have to register.

Another thing you should know is that all states make their medical licensing information public and you can look it up online. You can find out about board certifications on these sites as well. A good way to find the information you're looking for is to visit the medical board of the state you live in.

In the end, health insurance is only the first step to great health care, so it is very important for you to find the best doctors resources out there. It might take a little extra time, but you can feel great knowing that in times of health, your doctor will help you stay that way and should you get sick, you doctor will do the best job possible in helping you get healthy again.

Re: Social Media Effectively? Re: Social Media Effectively? - Personally, I use social media to build my company brand in order to get awareness of the various franchises I work with. I am active on LinkedIn and Twitter (@DougSchadle), always posting information about the franchise opportunities I work with. I have started discussions and basically just try to get the word out there. Also, I turned one of my clients to social media as well. I work with Doctors Express, the first national urgent care franchise, expanding their franchise base. They are quickly spreading throughout the country and I told the founder to jump on to Twitter and LinkedIn as well. He just started a few weeks ago (Twitter handle @Doctors_Express) and tells me he is loving it. He is posting different medical issues he sees and is tweeting about Doctors Express. He is joining medical groups on LinkedIn and trying to connect to other doctors. So in short, I do think franchises can be very successful with social media, they just have to put in the time to do it.
