Auto Insurance Companies - How To Cancel A Policy

Canceling a car insurance policy is quite easy, and it's important to know how to cancel a policy when you're shopping for insurance. The easiest way to cancel a car insurance policy is simply to call your agent and set a date for the policy's cancellation. You'll be required to keep your car insured, so if you've purchased a new policy, you should be ready to give your agent the new company's name and a policy number. You will also need to turn in your car's plates to your DMV, or a certificate of insurance if this is required by your state.

If you've already purchased a new car insurance policy, then the new policy will begin one minute before the old policy according to the driver's time zone. Technically, you'll be covered by two car insurers for one minute, although if you were to get into an accident during that time, you probably wouldn't receive two payouts. Your new car insurance will start a minute before the old coverage ends, however, because this prevents you from driving without coverage.

Some car insurance companies charge a fee for customers who cancel their policies early, such as Allstate, Geico, and Progressive. If they do charge a fee, you'll have to pay it, unfortunately, unless such fees are illegal in your state or if you can get the fee waived by talking to the customer service rep.

If you paid in full for your car insurance policy, you'll be owed a rebate for any unused time. For instance, if you paid for 6 months of coverage and you cancelled the policy at 3 months, you'll receive half of your premiums, less any cancellation fees. Keep calling your old insurer until you get the money that you're owed. It's your money, and they legally cannot keep it from you.

Especially since you can obtain a grant when used in combination with FHLB advance. The grant can be used for anything you want for your business (down payment to a seller or franchise fees, working capital...etc.) This puts the borrower in a pretty good position.
