Car Insurance - Bodily Injury Liability
Car insurance is an important aspect of owning a car and driving. Without the proper auto coverage, in the case of an accident, you could end up needing a lot of money to pay for damages of any vehicle involved. Hopefully you will never get into an accident, but sometimes it can't be avoided. Bodily injury caused by an accident is another aspect that should be well insured. Bodily injury liability is the type of coverage you would need to protect yourself against bodily injury claims.
Many accidents are small fender-benders or simply do not result in bodily injury. Other accidents are not so lucky. You, one of your passengers, or the other driver and their passengers all come into consideration regarding possible bodliy injuries. If the accident is your fault, you will be responsible. With the right car insurance coverage of bodily injury liability, you won't have to worry too much about out the cost of pocket expenses.
This liability insurance is a way to protect your own assets. If your passenger is injured or if an individual is injured because of an accident you caused, they may start a lawsuit against you or have an expensive claim against you. If you have low income and few assets, you won't need a large amount of coverage, whereas if you are wealthy, more coverage will be necessary.
Your insurance coverage will come as a split limit. They may give you $50,000 for the injuries of the other driver or passenger and a total of up to $100,000 for the total bodily injuries. As you can see, if you have assets totaling well over $100,000, they may be able to get from you more cash beyond what the insurance company will pay. The more money you make and have, the more coverage you will need.
