Kaiser Permenente - User Submitted Health Plan Reviews
|
| Guest post by: John Clark |
Article Overview: I currently have Kaiser Permenente's health insurance. Kaiser is the preferred provider for my husband's work, who carries the health insurance for our family. I do not care for the insurance program. Firstly, it is expensive. For a family of 5, we pay approximately $500 per month in premiums. Secondly, the co-pays are high. To visit the doctor it costs anywhere from $30-$50, depending on the type of doctor being seen. I recently had a baby, and while the regular visit co-pay was cheaper at $15 per visit, I had to pay the $15 co-pay every time I was seen. Near the end of my pregnancy, I was having some complications and was being seen up to twice weekly. During the last month, I amassed over $100 in co-pays for obstetrical care. With Kaiser's program, I also feel more like a number than an actual person. The quality of care is comparable

With Kaiser's program, I also feel more like a number than an actual person. The quality of care is comparable to a state-run clinic. My doctor sees so many patients, he doesn't remember who I am from one visit to the next.
While I am glad to have a program with the health provider that allows me to email my doctor, it is disheartening when it is obvious my email was not read thoroughly as issues are not addressed, or obvious oversights are made, which would not be had the email been read thoroughly. I feel the care I receive is more about the quantity of patients seen rather than quality of care.
