Open Enrollment Health Plans

There comes a time during the year where health insurance companies open their doors for open enrollment where consumers have the ability to make changes to their current plans. Open enrollment refers to a time period where all members within an insurance group can enroll in particular benefit packages. When a health insurance company has these periods of open enrollment, they are obligated take on applicants without assurance of insurability. There are certain exceptions, so applying early on and being diligent in understanding your specific health insurance policies and procedures will help you get the best deal. The first thing to do is find out when your health insurance company offers their annual period of open enrollment. Review your current benefits and make a detailed list of what you want to keep and what you may want to change. This will help narrow down what you are looking at as you review and compare your policy to the others offered by your health insurance company. Remember; take advantage of your open enrollment period. It is a time established for you! Remember to look over your health care spending over the last year and make this information the foundation of your review and a basis for your health budget for the new plan year.

After a careful evaluation of your plan options and desires, it may be beneficial to create a budget for your individual out-of-pocket expenses. There are many health care expense calculators available online that can help you find an estimate of your annual health care expenses. There is a misconception about the amount of money we spend each year on our individual medical. Forming a preemptive budget can help find a plan that works best for you during the open enrollment period.

During open enrollment it is vital to check into the health section of your plan and compare the plans being offered to your specific family or personal situation. The plan specifics will feature with hospitals, labs, pharmacies; doctors, emergency care, and preventative care are included. You will have to be diligent in checking whether or not the medical care you need is considered in-network or out-of-network. This will impact your overall cost and out-of-pocket expenses. Before making a choice during your open enrollment period, you should check for certain specifics:

• Ensure spouses and dependents are covered. Some plans offer coverage for spouses and dependents, and some do not. Be sure to read the fine print.

• Read through all of the health insurance plan material systematically. There will be a detailed explanation of your responsibilities and your consumer rights therein.

• Check to make sure any prescriptions you may need are covered and approved under your plan.

• If you run across something you do not understand, ask questions. Open enrollment period are temporary. Ask questions during the open enrollment period, rather than waiting until it has closed and your rights are limited.

• Check for yearly limits and requirements for any preceding authorization.

• Check into copayments of the cost divergence between generic prescriptions and name brand drugs.

Once you have finished enrolling in the health insurance plan of your choice, you will not be able to make any alterations until the next time your insurance company offers a period of open enrollment. There are exceptions that can occur, including life changing events such as getting married, the birth of a new baby, adoption, divorce or changing of jobs. But, one should be aware that changes cannot be undone until a new open enrollment period.

Taking advantage of the open enrollment period within your individual health insurance plan can be one of the most important choices you will make all year long. Be aware of your options, be diligent in your research and never be afraid to ask important questions until you get the answers you require.

Re: High price of entertainment Re: High price of entertainment - [quote="TheAnonymousMan":dadh8m1p]Kevin, I went to a Justin Timberlake concert recently where the bottled water was selling for $4 a bottle! I'm talking about the average 600ml bottle that sells for about $1.20 in the supermarket, now that's a rip off but people were buying it because they needed water.[/quote:dadh8m1p] Hi TheAnonymousMan, Can I ask how much you paid for the concert tickets? And more importantly, was the show worth the price? At the Tennis US Open, I had to pay $3.25 for a 500ml bottled water, $8.00 for a "travel size" Hawaiian Tropic bottle of sunscreen, and $13.00 for a Carnegie Deli pastrami sandwich, $4.25 for fries and $2.77 for a Sharpie pen (for autographs), etc... And to make things worse, they don't allow you to carry a backpack for security reasons, so it's very inconvenient to bring your own things to the event (keep in mind I was at the US Open for 7 hours). I mean who wants to carry around 10 lbs worth of stuff (if I were to bring my own necessities like food/water/sunscreen/etc. and have to carry a bunch of souvenirs) in a plastic transparent bag for the whole day?! It's an obvious scam for more profit.
Best incentive to offer employees Best incentive to offer employees - What's the best incentive to offer employees? Is it more health benefits? More vacation? Health club memberships? Paying for training? Cash / non-cash bonuses & rewards? I'm preparing a new package for my company and would love to get your thoughts! Thank you in advance!
Money I made while in School Money I made while in School - While in university I did have a Student Loan (still paying that bugger off) and had a part-time job as a Call Center agent (inbound). *Canada* I also designed websites (outsourced all the work). I just worked on getting new customers, managed the projects to completion and helped create Marketing Plans for my clients (Online and Offline). *Canada* When I was studying the in the States I also made some money as a Part-time Flight instructor. *USA*
Re: Internet Users Hbk http://www.internetscamsanonymous.com Re: Internet Users Hbk http://www.internetscamsanonymous.com - Hi Dr Don, Okay, I will modify that part of my review. I converted the file you sent me to an Open Office document and then converted that to a PDF file. It's good of you to give away free chapters, but the quality and depth of information suggests to me that you definitely have a marketable product - or series of products.
