Article Overview: After the accident has been handled, you should gather the insurance information of all of the other drivers that are involved. This is especially the case if the cause of the accident was the other driver's fault. This will keep you from having to pay a deductible if you need repairs to your car. Securing Car Insurance After An Accident
After the accident has been handled, you should gather the insurance information of all of the other drivers that are involved. This is especially the case if the cause of the accident was the other driver's fault. This will keep you from having to pay a deductible if you need repairs to your car. In addition, it will help you avoid paying higher insurance costs. This is because the other driver's insurance provider will pay for the claim.
Take Pictures
Take pictures of all of the damage immediately after the accident. Even though the insurance representative will take pictures, he or she may not be there immediately after the accident. It is important for your photos to show the position of the cars and the environment that is surrounding the damaged cars. This will help you tell the story of what happen. Pictures say one thousand words and it helps if you have visual proof.
Call a Representative
After you have taken the photos, you should contact your claims representative. This should be done at the scene of the accident if everyone is willing to wait and cooperate. Your claims representative will fill out the claims form, take pictures, and get the story straight. He or she may also interview any witnesses who still may be there.
Wait for Compensation
All you need to do now is wait for your check to arrive. This may take weeks or even months. If this is the case, you may want to take care of the repairs instead of wait. When you get your check, it will probably be the lowest estimated repair cost. This should only be the case if your car was completely totaled. You should have nothing to worry about if there were no major damages done to your car. If you can afford it, there should be no reason for you to wait until you get your check.
