Third Party Cell Phone Insurance Providers and What They Provide

With the price of cell phones and cell phone contracts rising at an exponential rate, it makes sense to many users to purchase a cell phone insurance policy for the device. However, not all cell phone manufacturers offer a cell phone insurance policy, which is why third-party insurance sellers have begun to offer this service to cell phone owners. One such third-party insurance carrier is SquareTrade, which offers iPhone owners a policy which can cost up to $30 less per year then if the iPhone owner were to utilize and pay for the AppleCare extended warranty offered by Apple Inc., the maker of the iPhone. This particular carrier offers much more insurance coverage for a lower price. Some of the included coverage for SquareTrade purchasers is accidental damage, of which is not included in the AppleCare plan. Covered under accidental damage is water damage, battery failure, drops, cracks and any other accidental damage caused by both normal "wear and tear" and true accidents. SquareTrade promises that if they cannot fix the iPhone, they will purchase the owner a new one r send them a check for the full purchase price. In fact, SquareTrade is the only insurance carrier licensed to cover accidental damage on an iPhone, which is one reason why they have more than one million policies in force today.

Another third-party insurance carrier offering smartphone and cell hone protection is called Asurion. Asurion offers what is called handset protection and content protection. The former protects a phone against damage; the latter protects against lost data and promises to restore it with a single click. While this third-party insurance provider provides coverage through an app from the Apple App Store for iPhone users, other wireless carriers also offer protection for their devices with coverage from this company including Verizon Wireless, TELUS, and others. The specifics of the coverage vary with the wireless carrier. However, the iPhone plan offers the app free of charge, and then consumers pay $11.99 per month plus a $199 deductible if something happens and the consumer needs a replacement phone or needs repairs. Additionally, this insurance is only purchasable if the iPhone owner purchases it within 30 days.

Another alternative third-party insurance company for mobile phones is Worth Ave. Group. This particular insurance coverage offers the same comprehensive coverage for iPhones that are damaged due to water, breakage, and normal wear and tear. The coverage costs only $80 a year and if the customer needs a replacement phone, it will only cost a $50 deductible. Coverage for other cell phones ranges from $45 a year up to $59 a year with contracts ranging from one to three years long. Additionally, the covered amount ranges from $399 to $599, depending on the yearly policy purchased.

You can usually also tell by the way they respond to the things you are saying. Phone sales aren't as easy as when you see them in person, but I still believe their tone can tell a lot.
