Top 7 Stolen Car Types
It may surprise many readers to learn what the most frequently stolen seven cars prove to be. They are not expensive sports cars or luxury cars. Rather they are the more common makes and models of cars. This is because there are two kinds of car thieves operating in the world today, the stupid ones and the intelligent ones.
Contrary to what the movies will tell a person, only stupid car thieves choose to steal valuable cars like BMW's, Mercedes and Aston Martin's. Cars like this are generally only stolen by joyriders looking for a quick thrill. Because of this, they are very commonly recovered. Selling a hot expensive car is not so easy as one would think.
Truthfully, cars are far more valuable for their many replacement parts than they are as a whole single unit. Because of this fact, smart car thieves go after the cars that are the most popular on the road vehicles. This changes the lineup of the most stolen cars considerably from what one might expect. Cars that have parts which prove to be interchangeable with other cars are especially popular targets. As an example of this, the 1994 Acura Integra proves to be a well powered smaller sports coupe that contains an engine which fits right into the Honda Civic engine bay. Engines like this are far more valuable than the entire car. Panels from the body, such as fenders, doors, wheels, and trunks, also fetch quite a high price.
Because of the fact that stolen cars are more valuable for parts than they are as cars, one will find quite a motley collection of cars in the top seven list that follows. Remember when reading it that these are cars that are most commonly driven on the roads today. Because of this, these trucks and cars need replacement parts which simply are only available in quantities provided by stolen cars. The list is below as follows:
1. 1994 Honda Accord
2. 1995 Honda Civic
3. 1989 Toyota Camry
4. 1997 Ford F-150 Pickup
5. 2004 Dodge Ram Pickup
6. 2000 Dodge Caravan
7. 1996 Jeep Cherokee/Grand Cherokee
The next time one thinks about buying a used car, he or she should remember this. New cars have better security systems and anti-theft devices than do used cars. Besides this, the smarter thieves really are looking for the most popular older cars, and not the shiny new ones.
