Women's Health Insurance: Staying Healthy
Women face augmented health care insurance premiums. Compared to their male-counterparts, women traditionally use more of their health insurance benefits, which in-turn have led to higher premiums and amplified overall out-of-pocket costs. More and more American people begin the important search for a good individual health insurance plan, because places of employment have cut company provided insurance in an attempt to reduce business spending. Sadly, women have reported an increase in difficulty finding a policy that responds to their required needs while staying within the limits of a reasonable budget. There is hope. By taking a proactive stance in ones own health, women can now obtain and keep some of the best health insurance rates available, all while promoting and facilitating a healthful lifestyle full of longevity, fitness and strength.
In most cases, individual health care insurance plans and their cost depend on the overall health, lifestyle, habits, weight and medical history. It is vital to improve and maintain a healthy lifestyle and participate in preventative measures that help ensure health, and in time, will lower overall insurance costs, including out-of-pocket expenses, costly prescription medications, and unexpected medicals costs that could comprise of emergency visits which incur additional unforeseen expenses.
There are many things a woman can do to improve her health, as well as lower her overall health insurance care costs. Research has shown that women, who engage in healthy lifestyles, are active in preventative care and wellness measures, watch their total body fat, exercise routinely, and are proactive in yearly physicals and mammograms, enjoy a lower year health insurance rate, lower premiums, and lower out-of-pocket expenses than women who do not employ these lifestyle amendments.
Some of the most practical and healthful measures a woman can take in protecting and maintaining a healthy lifestyle are:
* Keeping body fat to a minimum. Visit with your doctor about finding the healthy range of BMI, or Body Mass Index in order to ensure the ratio for body weight to fat is within the limits for your height and build.
* Avoid smoking and alcohol. Smoking is one of the first dings that can occur on a health insurance inquiry. Discuss the benefits of quitting with a healthcare professional.
* Form a daily exercise routine
* Drink plenty of fluids, especially water
* Keep annual gynecological appointments to ensure that your reproductive health and the hormones that help keep you happy and healthy are within the normal ranges for your age.
* Get regular mammograms
* Eat a varied diet consisting of whole grains, vegetables, fruits and low fat foods
As always, whenever considering a new health insurance plan, be aware of the hidden costs, exclusions, providers and provisions specific to that policy. Ask questions when questions arise and remain proactive and dedicated to your health.
