Motivational Transformation of a Leader
   

Genuine leaders must go through a motivational transformation in order to be effective. For this transformation to take place, leaders must understand what motivates humans’ internal and external desires. Many researchers have spent years studying the motivating factors of human needs and wants. These researchers have found that most people are motivated by internal and external desires arising from physiology, security, social needs, self-esteem, and self-actualization needs. Leaders must understand these motivations in order to satisfy them.

In addition, leaders can have a positive or negative impact based on the style of leadership they use and the leadership skills and traits they possess. To identify and apply these skills, leaders must first understand the leadership traits and skills that are required to begin the motivational transformation process. Genuine leaders must explore these skills and appreciate the various powers entrusted to leadership.

Genuine leaders are able to create and develop their leadership style to motivate others. They engage in the adventure of personal transformation, are worthy of trust, and align their own values with the values of their organization. Therefore, they discipline themselves to use these various leadership styles that are required to be an effective leader.
The various leadership styles are:

● Charismatic Leadership – the ability to have others believe in you.
● Transformational Leadership – the ability to bring about change.
● Transactional Leadership – the ability to bring about change by exercising genuine power.
● Servant Leadership – the ability to lead by example and service.

This is not only a particular style of leadership, but it also relates to the motivation behind a leader’s thoughts, words, and actions.
The genuine leader who uses these leadership styles is able to motivate others to produce results, meet goals, and build communities.
