Most leaders, when presented with their 360 feedback/assessment results, focus in on their lowest scores, scrambling to find strategies to overcome their weaknesses.

Extraordinary Leaders produce a return on investment 2 to 4 times higher than that of average performers by focusing on their strengths (Zenger, John H. and Folkman, J. The Extraordinary Leader. McGraw Hill, 2002). What constitutes an Extraordinary Leader and how can you support leaders in your organization to perform at this level?
Extraordinary Leaders score in the top 10% of all leaders, in four or more leadership competencies. They focus on developing strengths in a variety of areas (relating, achieving, systems awareness, authenticity, self- awareness) rather than zeroing in on competencies on which they don't score as high, or trying to be moderately competent at everything.
Organizations that want to thrive in the current financial climate must build extraordinary leadership now by doing the following:
- Engage leaders in a 360 feedback process to discover leadership and team strengths.
- Support leaders in developing 3-5 of their biggest strengths to the highest level.
- Utilize competent coaching to uncover beliefs and assumptions that are outdated or untrue, and support leaders in constructing more useful 'operating systems'.
- Hold leaders accountable for implementing their learnings right away. Ongoing work and learn leadership team sessions can cultivate a culture of strength development in the organization, leading to those higher returns in a relatively short period of time.
