Newsweek’s Special Edition 2011, titled The Key To Power, raises the question which factors in each individual, a company or a nation will determine who will have the power to shape our world in the way we would like it to be. Portly, ponderous, spoiled and unreasonable, that is the way authors from all over the world characterize people in the western world. We finance consumption and an easy life at the cost of future generations. The authors give two answers how to regain power over our own destiny: fitness & fairness. To be fit means to achieve more results with lesser means. To behave in a fair manner means to take full responsibility for you and all others around and in doing so let yourself be guided by plain simplicity. Personally, being fit means to me to keep my body in shape, flexible and capable; to educate myself every day and challenge my intellect; to let my soul determine where my professional path will lead me. To be fair with myself and others means to give in a mindful way what I am able to give based on my own available means and in a sustainable manner. What this means precisely for the four parts my life is composed around for 2011 and what it will ask of me, I wrote down in details this morning in my journal.
