What a Leader needs to understand about the strength of water

"Master Wei, I have been trained in the art of fighting with a sword and I wonder when it is wise for me as a King to use it?"

Master Wei replied: "A sword is a mighty but stubborn weapon. Once taken out of its sheath it has to be used; to make way for something new, to support someone or to eliminate danger. It was not made to replace words. Thus there is only room for using a sword when no words are left to solve a conflict peacefully.

The mightiest weapon a Leader possesses is to behave like water, to flow around all obstacles you meet, to shape them with patience and endurance. Water is far more powerful than a sword. No hammer can smash it, no knife can cut it, a sword can not even inflict the smallest scratch on its surface.

There are moments when showing resistance means getting destroyed, even if you carry a sword. The tallest mountains and the mightiest rocks will not keep water from flowing where it belongs. Water always finds the way that is possible and it always reaches its final destination: the sea."

Re: Franchises in Texas... Re: Franchises in Texas... - [quote="GT Bulmer":2vkmvy75]ps - Is global warming a concern? Or are the melting icecaps and changing weather patterns simply one of Earth's cycles that happens periodically with or without Mankind's loving touch? We've been on the planet too short of a time to truly understand Earth's cycles.[/quote:2vkmvy75] Hi GT, I think global warming is definitely a concern for everyone. While some of us may not directly be "hurt" by the environmental changes in our lifetime, I believe the next generation will. According to Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth"... I can't recall for sure, but I think there's a prediction that Manhattan will be submerged in water in the next 50 years (due to polar melting and rising water levels). And I just heard on the news today that out of 29 weeks of "summer" this year, Toronto had 8 weekends where both Saturday and Sunday had rainfall which is abnormal (and also weekend spoilers!).
Re: What would you like to see be invented? Re: What would you like to see be invented? - I know that hard-of-hearing and deaf people can get helper dogs who let them know if a doorbell rings or something similar... But for those people who go deaf later in life (for example my mom) who doesn't want a dog (or for those who can't afford them...) It would be nice to have some kind of flashy light on sinks and toilets...and even tubs... to alert people that water is running. (Of course if my Dad would just crack loose with some money and fix the toilet in my mom's bathroom this wouldn't be an issue - but that's a rant for another time and place!) (To explain further, if you dont' push the handle down "just right' to flush the toilet, the little flipper thingy on the whatchacallit in the tank stays open, and the water just runs and runs. It's easy to fix - you just push the flipper thingy down manually, but my mom can't hear the water running and so it could run for hours til my dad notices it...)
