Six Inner Principles of Success
Six Inner Principles of Success
When we think about success it is easy to focus on the habits and behaviours that will lead to success. Such habits are worthwhile and necessary and if we do not follow them we will not enjoy the success we desire and deserve. However, there is a deeper aspect to success, and that is the mind of success. I want to examine 6 principles that make up the mind of success: six principles that make up a whole world-view and are based on a deep understanding of the Universal Laws that sustain all life.
Principle One
Imagination
This first principle is important because without the ability to imagine your vision or dream you will have nothing to excite you or draw you on. The ability to visualise what inspires you is a major way that you will release the energy and passion required to motivate you to achieve your success. Athletes who dream of winning an Olympic gold medal can see it happening in their mind’s eye. They see themselves winning, they hear the roar of the crowd, they feel the medal hanging around their neck, etc.
With imagination you can lift yourself out of the present and start to create a mould that your energy can fill as you co-create your life and your future. Your imagination is unlimited and the only thing that can stop the subconscious from creating what you imagine is your own limited thinking.
The great thinker and write, Napoleon Hill, said, “What the mind can conceive the person can achieve.” These days scientific experiments have shown us that the same neural pathways are activated when we visualise something as when we physically see it. In other words the brain, or the subconscious, does not know the difference between what is imagined and what is seen as physical reality.
And the Law of Manifestation is always working to bring into physical reality the images that are held firmly in the mind. The images you hold in mind need to be firm in the sense that they are clear, detailed, consistent and invested with the energy of excitement and enthusiasm.
Life is a field of living intelligent energy that responds to the energy we release and radiate. So the images you hold in your imagination need to be filled with clear uplifting emotions
Emotion is E – Motion
It is energy in motion, driven by a thought (image)
Principle Two
Passion
Passion is the energy of desire and excitement that is released when you are inspired and uplifted by your dream of success. It is passion that motivates the athlete to arise at 4.00am on a cold winter’s morning to go and train. It is passion that gives him / her determination to tolerate pain, discomfort and maybe hardship to bring the vision into reality.
Passion will take you beyond your normal limits and fears and enable you to enter a larger world of commitment achievement and success. Passion, or desire, is the fuel that will take you forward. It is the core energy of life seeking to fulfill itself through you and as you. It is bigger than you and its arrival in your life and heart is an invitation to step into something greater.
A real and genuine dream, or passion, cannot be fulfilled from the same energy that you lived by before the dream. It will demand more from you.
We often associate passion with romantic love, red roses, being swept off our feet, etc. This is an idealised distorted view of it and does nothing to embrace the enormous transformational power of passion. The word comes from the Latin word passo to suffer. The great Russian dancer, Rudolf Nureyev, once said, “When I dance I spray the stage with my blood.” This is huge passion – to be prepared to put his body through that level of pain for his art. And with that passion he became one of the most successful dancers of all time
And why do we do this? There seems to be an essential drive within us to transcend, or go beyond, all our limitations and enter into that larger world of energy, aliveness, achievement and creative success. It is at this level of living that we feel most alive. It is at this level of living that we operate from the soul and give birth to Spirit.
Principle Three
Belief
Your dream and vision will test you. There will be times when you will be tempted to give up or to allow deep-seated patterns to sabotage you. Others may doubt or ridicule you. At times like this you will need plenty of self belief to keep you going.
You need to believe that you are able to bring your dream into existence. If you think it is too big, or that you are not good enough, or do not deserve it, then you will quite simply not bring it about. You will give up, get distracted, justify doing nothing, or allow others to talk you out of it.
Do you feel equal to the changes you want to make?
Do you feel ready and able to step into the energy of your dream?
You can be certain of one thing on your road to success: YOU WILL BE TESTED AND YOU WILL BE CHALLENGED.
What will bring you through those tests and challenges is the power and depth of your passion and your self belief. As Shakespeare said about real love, “It looks on tempests and is never shaken.”
Will your passion and self belief be able to look on tempests and not be shaken?
Principle Four
Action
We all know the saying that “actions speak louder than words.” By engaging in focused directed action we make our dream happen in the physical world. There are many visionaries who never bring their dreams to life because they do not engage in right action. Nothing will happen without action.
Action for its own sake will not do it. Not only do we need to act – we need to act appropriately and wisely. The intention will set the tone, the vision will inspire you; the passion will fire you up; the belief will keep you going, and action will give shape and structure to it. Therefore you need to have a plan of action that is based on clear guidelines, goals and priorities.
When you act you start to prove yourself in space and time. Your actions are there for all to see and people often falter when it comes to clear decisive action because of their fear of being judged.
What clear focused actions, internal or external, are you able to take right now to move toward greater success?
What actions are most aligned with your intention, your dream and your passion?
Are you prepared and ready to do what you need to do according to your values and your intention?
Principle Five
Faith
One ancient text says that, “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen.” If you think about the dream and the success you want to manifest then at this moment it is something unseen and hoped for. So if this quote is true – and it is – what you want is literally made up of faith. This is a very powerful truth and you need to know how it works so you can use it in your life.
Faith is not something you bring out in emergencies; it is the way you live moment by moment when you know and apply the creative laws of life. Life is lawful. Everything, from the movement of the galaxies to the beating of your heart, to the creative effect of your thoughts is lawful. If it wasn’t so then life would be chaotic.
Everything in creation is the result of thought held firmly and unwaveringly in the mind. Mystics and sages have always said this, and now modern scientists agree.
So there are 2 important principles to bear in mind, and one of them we have already met.
Everything in creation comes from thought (image)
What you give energy to will grow and expand
This is the law and this is the basis of your faith. Because it is the law of creation it is universal, consistent and unfailing. We have the complete creative power of life at our command because we have awareness and can hold thought. The thought (image) you hold firmly in mind becomes the mold that the creative intelligence then fills for you.
It sounds simple but many struggle to make it work because the process is not clean. There are several reasons for this but the main ones are:
The image is not clear
The resolve is weakened by doubt that is held in the mind
There are contradictory images or messages being passed to the subconscious
There are sabotaging beliefs; e.g. I don’t deserve it; I am powerless; it never works for me, etc.
The person gets distracted or simply gives up
So we can now define faith.
Faith is the unshakable conviction that what you want will manifest because
it is the result of clear principles that you are fulfilling in your life.
Now remember that you fulfill these principles by acting on them. Simply knowing them and sitting around believing them will achieve nothing because life requires us to be accountable, which means acting appropriately. If you know that life supports you, you understand the creative principle, and you have a clear compelling vision, then you can act with confidence and decisiveness to manifest whatever you want in life.
Life always supports us by giving back exactly what we give out with our thoughts and our energy. Your responsibility is to be very clear about the energy you are giving out
Principle Six
Gratitude
Gratitude is the great attitude. Life is continuously offering us its infinite abundance. Nothing is held back. What’s more this offering is unconditional. Life does not say you can have it all when you have proved yourself, or made so many dollars, or got rid of your anger. It is all being offered right now regardless of whatever circumstances we find ourselves in.
Take a moment to think of something you have your heart set on and are maybe working towards. Now imagine if some kind person came and gave it to you, with no strings attached. I’m sure you would feel enormous gratitude. Well that is nothing compared to what Life is continuously offering you.
Even if you feel hard done by it is still true that life has been continually supporting you through your whole life.
Do you feel grateful for life and all that it has given you?
If you don’t then you are more than likely holding onto some limiting beliefs of struggle and lack and maybe stuck in victim thinking. To open your heart in gratitude is to find beauty, joy and love everywhere you look. I am not talking about a romanticised view of life that overlooks the pain and suffering that do exist, but about appreciating the gifts and opportunities that life is offering you.
Many of the obstacles and difficulties we find ourselves in are due to our ignorance of the laws of life. It is easy to blame someone or something else but the sobering fact is that the more we blame the more we cut ourselves off from the abundant flow of life. If, through ignorance or inattention, I step off the roof of a building and break my back it is no use blaming the law of gravity. Gravity is simply a fact of life and if I choose to ignore it then I will pay the consequences.
It is the same with the laws I have been describing here. They are simply the way it is. If we learn to understand and apply them then we will reap the benefits; if we ignore them we will pay the price. We have been given everything we need to master our lives and to live the life of our dreams.
When we are grateful for these incredible gifts then the abundance flows in our lives.
You may be challenged by lack and poverty yet right now you are the heir to infinite abundance. You may feel alone and unloved yet right now you possess infinite unconditional love. You may feel stuck and passed by in life yet right now infinite opportunities exist for you. However you will only really know this if you find a way to open your heart in true gratitude.
The golden rule:
Instead of complaining about or focusing on what you do not have
be grateful for what you do have, and then apply these principles
