Adversity – Mountains – and Fulfilling Your Dreams
|
| Guest post by: Theresa-Maria Napa |
Article Overview: Adversity offers opportunities to stretch beyond where you are to new dreams and not be swept into the negativity of fear, guilt, blame or self-doubt. The new dream may be one that has been stored in the “someday” folder, but needs to be opened with fresh eyes that say, “This is the time to do something about making my dream come alive.”

Adversity – Mountains – and Fulfilling Your Dreams
"The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers."-M. Scott Peck
The Opportunity of Adversity
Where have your dreams gone? Are you living your dreams? If not, why not? What is stopping you? Even if this is not the best of times, it is the time to do what adversity offers. Adversity offers opportunities to stretch beyond where you are to new dreams and not be swept into the negativity of fear, guilt, blame or self-doubt. The new dream may be one that has been stored in the "someday" folder, but needs to be opened with fresh eyes that say, "This is the time to do something about making my dream come alive."
Dreams are about new. Yet so many people want to languish for the old that no longer serves them. Today there are no longer vocations that were available even yesterday and more applicants for available jobs than there are jobs. We are in an era of transition developing a new future from dreams of something better which requires new leadership.
What proactive steps are you taking to develop your dreams? More important, who are you being? Are you being a sufferer or are you taking responsibility to transcend through self-awareness.
"What seems to us as bitter trials are often blessings in disguise." -Oscar Wilde
Mountain Climbing to Your Dream
There is no freedom in trying to put the past into the future. Adversity is challenging, but struggling to keep things the same isn't a picnic. It is like climbing a mountain with your arms wrapped around a boulder. The mountain is challenging enough, but doing it with unnecessary, cumbersome gear is foolish.
Every mountain you climb is new terrain demanding new skills and knowledge in order to traverse the dangers in the climb. The perceived dangers are the unknown. You could make a list of all the things that could possibly get in the way to stop you from taking your dream to the top of the mountain. Or you could choose to recognize the possibilities of meeting the challenges along the way equipped with the proper mind and body training necessary to reach the top safe and sound.
There is no getting away from it - change is ever present. When you engage fully in transcending beyond the ache of change, you experience aliveness. It generates ingenuity, creativity, wishful dreams, believing anything is possible, shifting perspectives, expanding, letting go, building relationships, replacing fear with love, being in the experience of your greatness from authenticity. This and so much more is already within you. It simply needs training and expression.
To climb a mountain you never climbed before usually takes investing in yourself financially and, without exception, requires training to take you to those new horizons. When you invest in growth through self-awareness, you will be amazed at what's possible.
Invest in Your Dream:
• Create your future based on your agenda and not someone else's plan of what you should do.
• Be happier doing what you want. Doing what you hate is a drag for you and those around you. However, if you see it as a means to help climb the mountain, then look at it in a more loving way.
• Experience new found freedom as you train your mind and body to reach new horizons.
• Experience the joy of being true to yourself, especially as your natural talents and gifts manifest outwardly.
• Become a success magnet as you define what success means to you.
• Attract multiple sources of income if you so desire.
• When you invest in your dream, relationships are happier, deeper and trusting.
Caveat: It is a journey with spikes in the road that may blow out your tires, but your engine is still functioning. Your heart is the engine of your dream. You are in control of your heart's desire. The tires can be repaired.
How to Climb Your Dream Mountain
1. Find yourself a trainer, coach, teacher, mentor, group, books, CDs and/or spiritual guide - whatever tools you need to climb your new mountain. You can't do it alone. It takes a training and practice to climb a mountain. But if you don't start now, when will you?
2. Self-awareness is key to climbing your mountain. You will discover your magnificence and become the leader you are destined to be. And you will develop into the leader leading others to lead themselves.
3. Anything is possible and you are the possibility of the impossible! So get out of your way and climb!
"As long as a man stands in his own way, everything seems to be in his way: government, society, and even the sun, moon and stars." -Henry David Thoreau
