Leadership Strategy - One Size Success Does Not Fit All

Most people measure their success by somebody else’s standards, which is understandable when you realize that you are trained from the time you are born in what and who to believe.

Where else are you going to learn the rules and beliefs?

Your parents, teachers, church, community, environment, friends, or whoever was an influence in your upbringing are part of who you are. Even if you choose to be a rebel against the rules you were governed by as a youngster, you only add more power to them with resistant energy. What you resist persists!

If you are very successful, by whose standards do you feel successful?

If you are not getting up in the morning looking forward to the day and the contribution you will make, that is a sure signal trying to get your attention There comes a time when you know there is another way and something else is possible.

Here are some questions to get you thinking about YOUR personal success goals:

1. What is your definition of success?

2. Was this an inherited definition?

3. If so, how is it working for you?

4. If great, then what is your next success step?

5. If not, what do you want to do about it?

6. What does success look like to you?

7. How does success feel?

8. What difference would it make to be successful on your terms and ideals?

9. What is your understanding of having a coach make possible you being more successful than you can even imagine?

Take the time to review these questions honestly and deeply. There are no right or wrong answers.

You are the leader of your life. As the leader you are ever evolving and stretching by choice. You are part of the magic in the world, especially when you succeed from within to without, not from without to within.

Leading within is from inside out, which is being true to your essence and your talents.

Here are some Tips to remember about YOUR personal success story:

* Success is a journey not a destination.

* You get to choose.

* Look around, you have become very masterful in being who you are today. Where do you see yourself in the future?

* Remember: Anything is Possible

This was far more than I expected and I'm glad you said what you thought straight out. Each of you have shared something of value and I want to take some more time to think and really go over what each of you have said. However, I can see there are some things I need to change right away. What an interesting point about a NEW program perhaps making people think they are guinea pigs! This is NOT what I want to convey! It's funny how we can see some things so clearly in others while not always seeing it for ourselves! I must admit there are a few things I've been meaning to change (like my bio which is very outdated). Obviously, these things need to be higher on my priority list. You caught me like the plumber who puts his clients first and doesn't get around to fixing his own tap! As far as my target market, I do feel quite strongly about working with Women Leaders and doing Leadership Coaching with them. It's non-negotiable in my books. In my Executive Coaching training, the terms "Leaders" and "Executives" are interchangable. To me, an Executive is a Leader and so is the Business Woman or Entrepreneur who is CEO of her own business. I love working with decision makers! What I did learn is that I need to avoid opening up the Leadership term beyond what I described above. I'm also wondering if there is a misunderstanding with the general public as to what Leadership Coaching really is. Leadership Coaching is all about developing your leadership skills, both as a people manager and in more effectively running and growing the business. There is ALWAYS room for growth in some way. As well, sometimes, we just need a sounding board to clarify what our next BEST step is. In fact, if a woman thinks she has nothing to work on, then we aren't a good Client/Coach fit anyway. How can she grow if she doesn't see the value of expressing ALL of the great ability within her? How can her company grow if she doesn't see the value of strategic planning for the next best level? Thanks again to you all! I will go back to my website and really question whether I am conveying the right message. I got more than I bargained for in this Spotlight... you generously offered way more than I was asking. I think we could be on to something great for the Forum.
