Moving Faster and Still Off Track

"Let others lead small lives, but not you. Let others argue over small things, but not you. Let others cry over small hurts, but not you. Let others leave their future in someone else's hands, but not you."- Jim Rohn

Today's busy-ness trap comes at a high price. Multitasking to get things done saturates our personal and professional lives with excesses of doing-ness. In business the paradigm is to quickly respond to the demands of others through email, PDA's, cell phones, meetings, deadlines, and one-on-one meetings. Outside of careers, personal issues are the care of self, family, relationships, environment, finances, spirituality, and health. It seems people are automatically responding to some allusive fascination to having it all. But what is having it all? Who's "all" is it? Is it yours or an unspoken agreement in society?

Even when something is accomplished that was difficult, the celebration is fleeting to get on to the next thing. To get over this rush, rush through life is challenging. Yet, it can be done if that is what you want. Joseph Campbell, an American mythology professor, writer and orator, wrote: "When you follow your bliss...doors will open where you would not have thought there would be doors, and where there wouldn't be a door for anyone else." Find your bliss and you live life on your terms.

One of the success tools in weight loss programs is to get rid of trigger foods. These are foods which are irresistible and so tempting that you give in to eating the foods that prevent you from being healthier. Well, won't you agree there are a multitude of "trigger sources" in everyday life that prevent people from living healthier and less stressful lives?

"A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write, if he is to be ultimately at peace with himself." - Abraham Maslow

Fundraising for school activities such as sports, clubs Fundraising for school activities such as sports, clubs - About a month ago, there was a two week time span when I entered my local Walmart, and saw a bunch of kids (with an adult supervisor) stationed outside each door asking for donations for their track team, or their swim team. (Never saw one for a debating or science club, but they may have been out there.) They weren't selling anything - no cookies, no candybars - just asking for donations. And I felt sorry for 'em because most people were just walking on by, so I contributed a dollar each time. But it got me to thinking.... was this really good training for the younger generation? Stand outside stores 'guilting' people into contributing to their wants, but without giving anything in return (ie those cookies or candybars.) And usually every weekend I drive by people standing by the side of the road holding up signs advertising car washes, again presumably sponsored by an organization in order to earn money. And I remember reading somewhere that these types of events rarely do make money. (Especially when any signs pointing people to them are usually so small and illegible that drivers can't even read them and drive on by in frustration...) What activities can kids do to earn money for their school, that isn't equivalent to begging? Moving lawns, dog walking... what? Should they form an entrepreneurial group and do something that way?
