Business Author Published in new Book to Help Mourners Find Hope

Patrick T Malone, co-author of the popular business book Cracking the Code to Leadership and Senior Partner of the PAR Group, offers advice for grieving parents in the new book released June 14, 2011, Open to Hope: Inspirational Stories of Healing after Loss. The book includes not only Malone's experiences but also the knowledge and insight from close to 100 nationally recognized experts in the field of grief and loss. Readers will find validation for whatever loss they are experiencing and however they are coping with their grief.

After Mr. Malone's 25 year old son, Lance, was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1995, he found understanding and healing knowing he was not alone on his grief journey. "My wife, Kathy, dragged me to a Compassionate Friends meeting and I discovered that being with others who had experienced the grief of child loss was very helpful in managing my own grief." This experience is recounted in his article "Discovering You're Not Alone".

Malone's second article "Choosing Positive Memories" deals with recovery and reinvestment in life after the death of a loved one. "As I moved through my grief journey I was confronted with the challenge of knowing I would see my kids again and they would want to know what I did with the rest of my life after they died. That was my inspiration to reinvest the rest of my life in their memory."

Dr. Robert A. Neimeyer, Ph.D., an internationally known leader in the field of grief and bereavement, says "How can we reach through the anguish of grief and embrace a life that once more has meaning and joy? There is no single answer to this question. There are a hundred answers, written in the lives and words of those who have loved and lost, and learned to live again. This book is a compendium of their wisdom."

At 380 pages, Open to Hope: Inspirational Stories of Healing After Loss is a content-rich resource that has been organized into four major sections: Mending the Grieving Heart; I Wasn't Ready to Lose You; Rebuilding Your Life; and Let Hope Blossom. Within each section are chapters that deal with every type of loss and grief, comprised of more than 100 stories of loss, faith and courage written by those who have been there. The stories remind those in grief that despite devastating losses, it is possible to find hope again. The book is available at local and national bookstores, as well as all online booksellers such as Amazon or directly through the Open to Hope web site

Open to Hope: Inspirational Stories of Healing After Loss was published by The Open To Hope Foundation, a nonprofit 501c3 organization whose mission is helping people find hope after loss. The book's authors, Dr. Gloria Horsley, PhD, MFC, RN, and Dr. Heidi Horsley, PsyD, LMSW, are internationally recognized grief experts. This mother/daughter team founded the Open to Hope Foundation and are hosts of the "Open to Hope" Internet radio show. Re: VALUE = ROI / Price (Cost) or Opportunty Spent Re: VALUE = ROI / Price (Cost) or Opportunty Spent - [quote="Takuya":ra8u6vda]OK, but what many people do not realize is.... just because the "free offer" is relevant, or we didn't pay money for the message, it still costs our opportunity to be just paying attention to it. Here is a scenario, I get a phone call from a stranger who knows nothing about me. Without asking me for a permission, just because their FREE message is relevant to what I do, they assume they're doing me a favor by approaching me with their promotion.[/quote:ra8u6vda] Hi Takuya, While I understand your position, I think you're straying off topic from what Andy and I interpret as "giving value first" and asking for nothing in return. If you try to help a potential client by simply offering your related service or products for free, then that's self-serving because you're trying to make the sale. And no one likes cold callers. A good example of offering value first would be: -I want to connect with Business Author ABC. -The next step would be to find out how I could help (and NOT by trying to sell my product or service). -Let's say I learn that this author wants publicity for his/her new book, so I introduce Business Author ABC to an influential person in the book/publishing industry like Oprah and ask for nothing in return. -Then Business Author ABC would want to connect with me and want to learn what I do for a living. -And in the future, Business Author ABC would want to help me in the future if need be. It's as easy as that.
