We are all concerned about what people think of us; our family, our friends, our fellow business members and the people we prospect in our business. Have you ever observed in the gym how people are looking around at everyone and wondering what he/she thinks of me in my designer shorts, Nike runners and recently tanned legs from their latest vacation instead of focusing on their routine? This is human weakness for wanting to be accepted or approved by everybody. Guess what. None of that matters because it is what you think of yourself, your self love is what counts and matters most and regardless of anyone else's opinion it is your self- belief that will lead you to success.
Let us focus on this mindset and see how it affects our business. When a prospect enters your world either through an advertisement or a lead generated source they are entering your world where you have valuable information to give them; either a solution to a problem, information about a business or product etc. Some prospects will be very grateful that you are the answer to their prayers. Others will feel uncomfortable that someone is trying to sell them something when in reality you are offering something that holds great value and a solution to the right consumer so in affect you are doing them a service if only giving them a grain of gold that will educate them a little further in their lives. What they decide to do with this information is their choice.
People who feel uncomfortable about being offered a service can react in different ways; whether through a nasty email, letter or phone message. This is human behaviour but the key is not to be offended by it. Let them unsubscribe from your list if they wish because you would not want to work with such people anyway so you are doing yourself and them a massive favour. The key is not to be offended by anyone's actions or reactions to you. If you market to everyone you will attract no one so select a market that will appreciate what you have to offer. You will always get people who complain so in the words of Aaron Parkinson "if you are offended you'll get over it."
Stay focused and alert in your business and realise we live in a world where we cannot please everybody nor are we trying to. Believe in yourself and what you have to offer because if you really believe then people will be empowered by your belief and they will follow you. The final point is focus on you and your development and it is this strength that will infiltrate every aspect of your life including your marketing. This is Donal Hennessy signing off.
