What to expect in your first month of business as a beginner network-marketer

Starting your own business is an exciting prospect and once you have made the decision to become an entrepreneur and join or affiliate yourself to a particular company you experience an overwhelming feeling of excitement and anticipation. What happens next? What do I do next? I am assuming you have a superb training and support network attached to your company because if you haven't you have made a wrong choice of company to join (tip no.1).

Your first week or even month if needed should be about setting up your system. In our company, we were given our own back office which had website details, marketing modules and resources, a list of weekly training calls and webinars, training call archives,a list of support contacts and many other features. You will need to set up your own website (preferably customised) with your own video, photo, captions etc which will establish clearly who you are to your prospects. This business requires an auto-responder messaging service and I can recommend using Aweber for this function and I would also recommend you personalise these messages so you are further establishing your identity from the beginning.

Once your system is set up, familiarise yourself with every aspect of your back office and spend the first 30days learning as many of the marketing modules that will be required to run your business. Education is a key component in this business because once you have acquired the necessary skills applying them is a lot easier than you would imagine. Once you have grasped a few marketing tools try and generate your first lead and when you do celebrate it because now you realise the system works and your journey has begun. Over the next few weeks try and increase your leads. Don't eat an elephant in one bite. Take things gradually and realise there is a learning curve and enjoy this experience.

Once you have tested the water and you are starting to feel comfortable, you will have to make an important decision about where you want to position yourself within the company. The highest position is obviously the best choice but that depends on a lot of factors; how ambitious you are, your goals, how driven you are and financial circumstances but it will be one of the most critical decisions you will make in your business so give careful consideration to this aspect of the business.

Finally attend any marketing event organised because here you will rub shoulders with the kings of your industry, forge relationships with fellow members and learn the most valuable tips for your business and its all great fun too! I'm off to Las Vegas in November and I've just booked my flight.

Re: Can you make a real living online? Re: Can you make a real living online? - I think you can make a living online, it just depends on how much work you want to put in and how 'on line' the business is. You need to approach an online business the same way you do an offline business - with a good plan and well thought out strategy. There's nothing wrong with a strategy of having 300 niche topic websites all making $20 - $50/ month from advertising as long as they are automated or easily managed. But people who set up one or two small sites, populate them with syndicated content and expect to get rich from ad sales are probably going to be disappointed.
Making Money in Eastern Europe Making Money in Eastern Europe - Hello everyone, I am hoping I could gain some insight and suggestions on some ways to make money over in Eastern Europe. I'm a 27 year old Canadian who is leaving in September to go study in Belarus. I'll be there for a number of years, so I would like to find a way to make money and do well for myself while I'm over there. Belarus as a country is rather poor, with the average person earring a few hundred dollars a month. Government is quite restrictive, so I'd have to be completely above board, legal, moral, and ethical. If I were to settle for a normal job, my only real options would be teaching English or doing document edits. Both are jobs I could only expect to earn a maximum of about $500 a month. Obviously that's not desirable, I'd like to live well. Now, I am wondering if anyone has some business ideas on ways I could make a decent living while I'm over there? I'd appreciate the suggestions. I'm willing to put in a decent amount of time to the business, as I will only have about 4 hours of classes per day. Thanks very much!

Re: What are your January Goals? Re: What are your January Goals? - Well done David! My major goal for January was to get 3 new paying clients for my local marketing business. I ended up with 7 and a few more that are strong possibilities for the near future. So I would say it was a very successful month! Also, I earned more this month than I have in any other month since I started my online business almost 9 years ago (if you don't count large lump sums from a few sites I've sold in the past).
Re: Does it help to join business groups? Re: Does it help to join business groups? - I hope to benefit from joining a business group. I'm not sure what to expect. I read NAWBO's website the other day and signed up for my local chapter. I just received my first call from their membership coordinator and am looking forward to what lies ahead. Is anyone a member of NAWBO that could tell me what to expect in terms of meetings etc? I saw that they have a yearly conference in June, I couldn't tell from the website how often they meet outside of that or what the topics generally are. thanks for any information you might have.
