Keep your eye on the ball
It's very difficult to stay focused when there is so much to do. You have a list, a commitment to doing what is necessary to achieve the organizational goals but there is so much to distract you.
You start the morning with good intentions and check the email. You've got your list to follow and then you find that there are things that are very important - it's only 8.00am in the morning and you have already let your daily list slide.
This sort of interruption can occur dozens of times in a day and you can end up feeling as though you're not achieving anything much - and you'd be right.
When you switch from doing what you should, the whole day, month, year can end up feeling like a blur; rather than something where you can sit back and remind yourself about all of the successes you've had.
It's the time you spend reflecting, fine tuning, planning, holding yourself accountable that really makes a difference to your personal and business productivity.
As a leader; imagine the difference if you worked like this. When you've mastered it, you can then teach your employees how to do it.
Leaders are caught up in the frenetic pace of the workplace and this does not allow them to really know how much more effective they could be. The desk is piled high and if that's not, then the mind is full of what should be done.
Not many people in organizations spend a lot of time planning before they get into action. Why? Because they think it's a waste of time. Getting into action before planning is the time waster and it would be scary if you stopped long enough to measure it qualitatively and quantitatively.
