charisma and my leadership of british columbia's first everest expedition.

CHARISMA: Desire to be led involves charisma. Where does charisma fit in with all this? Fortunately This leader has been told he has some charisma. Terence Schaffer, the once president of the University of Toronto, postulated that each person in a democratic society contributes his or her own unique developmental conflicts and heroic imagery to the creation of an idealised political leader, and needs to attribute this indefinable quality of charisma to him. The need for charisma itself can be explained by classic Freudian psychology where the pivotal mother is replaced the primordial father as the key bonding force in group psychology. It then follows that the child, separated from the mother at birth, seeks to recapture oneness or its identity through an outside heroic political image which is a projection of the lost part of itself. This is not a delusion of grandeur on this author's behalf but an attempt to understand this phenomenon and use it at this level of operations. The more charisma a leader has for a team and the public, the more credibility the team has and the more money can be raised. Public relations are then much easier. There can be a danger in charisma. The unrestricted rise in and exercise of self-aggrandising power has caused a generation of destructive achievers (DA's). A DA may have leader charisma but his self-interest can erode the ethical base of the organization and can destroy it. If a leader is perceived as acting purely in self-interest - "the team is putting him on top" - then he's had it, in the final analysis, as a leader. Hitler, Joe McCarthy, and to a certain extent Richard Nixon and george Bush were prime examples of self interested action. People in organizations have to be educated to understand power and prevent people using it for their own purposes only. People also have to realize that counterproductive behaviours can be normal and acceptable to a power seeker. Businessmen can be ruthless to get to the top. They have to be watched to obtain a more ethical use of power in an organization. Our team watched out constantly for self interest.

Re: Obama or McCain? Re: Obama or McCain? - If I want to be partial , I would say Obama because I am black. But this should not be if you want to vote objectively. Otherwise, I will prefer Obama because of his age, charisma and energy
Re: Need help in Team Building Activity.. Re: Need help in Team Building Activity.. - Team Building Activities are my favorite part. Last time our team was out for an expedition. We got a map and had to find the cave were we also slept and on our way there were other activities. It was an extreme team building and it was organized by a specialized company.
Key Components Key Components - Two key components for success in network marketing are passion and leadership. As others have said, you have to believe in, or be passionate about, what you are selling. But, just as important, is the development of leadership skills. People want to work with a leader -- someone who can show them the way. So you must take the time to study and become a leader if you want to meet with real success in the network marketing industry.
Pitching without getting Poached Pitching without getting Poached - Hi Kevin, This is a great question and one I get ALOT! The short answer is a non disclosure agreement with a strict confidentiality clause and non-compete. Sadly, it doesnt always work. I recently hired a copywriter to edit some of my women's leadership work - and now I find out she is speaking on Women's leadership to my own Women's group. Eek! In any case, I'm the expert so I doubt it will go far. You do need to be careful and follow your gut on who to trust and how much information to share. Most people are honourable but you do need to cover your butt. J
Bad books Bad books - One of my pet peeves: I really, [i:3gjt67s5]really [/i:3gjt67s5]hate those "franchise" books like The __________ For Dummies, or The Idiot's Guide to ______________. The titles offend me, and the way they're written (yes, I have looked at a couple), in a "yes we know you're not a dummy but we'll talk to you like you are, anyway" manner, get on my nerves. So any business books coming out of those franchises.... I never look at. I'm also not too sure about those "gimmick" books - leadership skills of Attila the Hun, or of The Sopranos (how sad that someone actually thought it might be amusing to write a book about the leadership skills of characters in a TV show based on the Mafia...)
