Main Components of Creativity Management

Creativity management is not only a new way of solving problems and taking decisions, but is a new way of looking at the world and various aspect of life. Instead of accepting blindly that there is one sole truth and one best way of doing things, creative management holds that there is neither absolute truth nor an absolute best decision. We can progress through learning from other and understanding others view point.

1. Find a Problem: Only in question paper will you find questions for which, as students, we have to find answer. As students, we are not expected to be very creative. It is our memorisation skill which comes to our rescue in the examinations. Examination is, after all, about studying more and more about less and less. In real life, questions as well as its answers have to be conceptualised by ourselves. Only in dictionary, answer comes before questions. In practical life, answer will always follow question. No one can find an answer and then search for a problem. Before we solve a problem, problem should be before us. Many a times, finding a problem is more difficult than getting an answer.

2. Define and redefine the problem: Main reason why we fail to solve our problems is because of our failure to define the problem in its right perspective. If one way of defining the problem do not provide solution, then it is necessary to redefine the problem

3. Generate large number of ideas: Larger the number of alternatives available to a decision-maker, higher will be the possibility of getting a better solution.

4. Capability to choose: Once large number of ideas is generated, it becomes equally important to choose the best alternative. Our prejudices and lack of confidence may come in the way of choosing the best alternative. We are free to mane our choice but after we have chosen, the choice controls us.

5. Ability to be flexible: You will never get a solution at the first attempt. Therefore, patience and persistence is very important. One should be flexible enough to move from one frame of reference of another and approach the problem in new ways.

6. Ability to accept failures: whenever we try to do something new, success can never be guaranteed. Winning means being unafraid to lose. Although it is better to win than to lose but still it is better to lose than not trying. So being creative means generating confidence to accept failure.

Re: Watch What you Read - I agree. i believe more video's should be like Jeffery Gitomers video's under his Sales rant. They are typically not more than 3 minutes. His model seems to be; 1. Main Message (or Point) 2. Example 3. Next steps to put it into Action take away the extra "blabber" and you've got viewers that will come back.
