A Formula for Flawless Decisions

During one of my workshops on decision making, the head of a large health care system asked me: "Don't you have some simple formula for flawless decision making, even for tough decisions?" I thought about it for a moment and wrote down three things on a flipchart: 1. Spell it out

2. Follow through

3. Communicate results

Over time, I refined this list, adding details to each step.

Step 1. Spell It Out

• Define the desired results

• Define the process, step by step

• Clarify roles and responsibilities at each step

• Write down expectations and a timetable

• Identify critical path issues

Step 2. Follow Through

• Monitor progress

• Keep people informed

• Address conflicts

• Make the decision

Step 3. Communicate Results

• Communicate the decision

• Explain the rationales

• Provide feedback on process and results

• Recognize people for their contribution

Not every decision will be made flawlessly if you follow these three steps. There are many judgment calls to make along the way. I am suggesting, however, that all flawless decisions must include these three steps.

Sport: Formula 1 Sport: Formula 1 - Hi There, This year a new name arrived on the Formula One scene: Lewis Hamilton. He has had unparalelled success right in the first season of his racing career. There is just one race left and he stands to become World Champion. It is amazing. I used to watch the races in the past, now I tend to see the results and a little of the race. I think his driving colleague never anticipated for him to stand so often on the winners stage. Certainly his potential has been totally unlocked. Any comment about him from different angles. [/quote:39rinmcm] Car racing is not an activity I've ever gotten into... although rally car racing or "point to point" sounds kind of fun - I've never seen the point in driving around a circle 500 times... But, I'm always interested in people who do things well...especially when they're just starting out in their chosen profession. I'll check him out!
Re: Success Re: Success - I study success intently, and would like to share: Here's two excellent and nearly identical success-formulas from a couple of the world's masters. FIRST FORMULA: 1. Passionate Desire 2. Clear, Definite Purpose 3. Committed Decision 4. Take Action In Faith (Bonus Secret Sauce: 5. Repeat Consistently) I made a video about this, but am not allowed to link it yet. Google "Ryze Success Steps" for it. Oh, and this is Napoleon Hill's (Master Of Success Laws)'s Formula. SECOND FORMULA: 1. Passionate Desire 2. Understand It Is Already Done (Faith) 3. Relax & Allow It To Unfold (Go about your life calmly) This one is courtesy of Abraham-Hicks (inspiration for the movie The Secret). Hope that helps!
Re: looking for experienced affiliate feedback Re: looking for experienced affiliate feedback - Affiliates will send you traffic and maybe pre-sell your product. Your job is to ensure the traffic they send converts well, so should have well optimized sales pages, with minimal traffic leaks, and be continually testing. You should also provide tools and ideas for affiliates to promote you. I am an affiliate (I promote other people's products) and drive a lot of sales for my partners. I expect good tracking tools/reporting from the affiliate (affiliate systems like clickbank are fine), I expect a decent commission, good communication from the affiliate program, and landing pages that convert. The trick if you run your own affiliate program is to reach out to successful affiliate marketers who have a large audience that they can push products too. Just signing up with clickbank or similar won't really help you. You need to go out and advertiser your affiliate program, and approach potential partners and sell it to them. Bear in mind successful affiliates get pitched to EVERY DAY so you will need to stand out. The course, Product Launch Formula will be really helpful for you.
