Becoming a Decision Manager

To lead at light speed, you need to focus on becoming a superb decision manager. This means teaching people the vocabulary of decision making; it means walking people through the three steps of flawless decision making. Above all, it means making sure that when you delegate, you are delegating both accountability and responsibility. Effective leaders help people see the implications of the "assumption of competence." They train themselves and others to question their assumptions and to keep an open mind. In so doing, they model the kind of tough-minded communication that is so important to developing a high-performing organization. When faced with a tough "right vs. right" decision, effective leaders see themselves as stewards. They look to the core values, consult deeply, reach a moment of resolve, communicate the decision, and move on. By creating clarity around managing decisions, they create a culture in which decision making is decentralized, enabling the organization to leverage its leadership resources and move at light speed.

Outlook Business Contact Manager Outlook Business Contact Manager - I've just installed the new Outlook 2007 with Business Contact Manager and am testing it out to see how good of a CRM system it is. I like the concept because it works right within your Outlook and I already have all my contacts and emails here. Does anybody have any experience with Business Contact Manager for Outlook?
Re: what position to request? Re: what position to request? - Hi Michael, Great suggestion from David, or you could try something around a design consultancy, How about Website Design Consultant, Design and Development Manager, Website Support and Development Manager or maybe Internet Business Development Consultant. Ultimately whatever you are comfortable with and good luck for the future, Mal.
Re: Subject line Etiquette Re: Subject line Etiquette - [quote="jvprosperity":b50c4a20]Another email rant: Is there some place on the internet that outlines proper "Subject line" headings? There mus be a system out there that people use to be more efficient email senders. Not everything that comes into my mail box requires my immediate attention. I would love to educate myself and the people who send me emails on proper subject lines. Maybe something like: "Urgent Review: <<Title of document>>" "Decision Required: "<<Subject matter>>" just something for me to quickly scan the subject lines and decide which ones need my immediate attention. Anyone know of such email standards that exist out there?[/quote:b50c4a20] The only messages I get that say Urgent or Decision Required etc are spam. I tell people to put something relevant to their business with me in the subject line - this is especially important for the people who fall into my junk mail. Chris
