Recognize Success

More than 40 percent of the leaders in our surveys say they spend too little time working with individuals to help them unlock their creative energies. Asking yourself, "Have I found my own creative flow? Am I helping other people find their creative flow?”

Coaching, empowerment, and praise inspire flow. Micromanagement interferes with creative flow. To encourage flow, good managers need to make sure people are recognized early on for their success. Every success should be recognized in some way, no matter how small. Rewards and praise should be distributed generously to all who were involved. At the same time, a special effort should be made to celebrate and recognize people who made special contributions. I have a 10 to 1 rule about the ratio between positive feedback and "constructive" feedback. People need to hear ten times the amount of positive feedback than negative. Otherwise, they simply will not - or cannot - hear the constructive feedback. The "constructive" part of the feedback will be lost. By focusing on praise and encouragement, you can help prepare people for the day when they need to hear the constructive feedback.

Developing professionally is encouraged by rewarding success. As shown in Chapter 3 of Leading at Light Speed, the Performance Development Life Cycle illustrates the specific points in an individual's development. An important step is creating an Individual Development Plan, in which you write down exactly what your career goals are and how you need to prepare yourself - the kinds of training, mentoring, job shadowing, and feedback you need. Encouraging creative flow means giving people this opportunity to reflect on and articulate their career aspirations - and then share their IDPs with the people who can help them get there.

I heard once that it should range between 1-2%. Is that about right? And how many people are on your advisory board at the moment if you don't mind me asking? Moreover, do they know what one another receives as compensation?
Advisory Boards - Step 3 & 4 Advisory Boards - Step 3 & 4 - After you have determined what you want your advisory board to accomplish or provide, and you have found what you think are the right people, the next step is to set expectations. 3) set expectations This is a crucial step and one that seems to get short changed. By communicating your expectations of yourself, your advisors as individuals and as a group - you will shorten the length of time it takes to really gel as a group and move your business forward. Lay down the ground rules early about what you expect as far as time, responsibilities, terms of office etc. Specify the areas in which you are seeking help. and if your board is going to be discussing confidential information (which I trust it will) make sure you speak up right away about signing confidentiality agreements etc. Step 4) Compensate your advisory Board Depending on who you are asking and how involved you are asking them to be, compensation can range from providing food at meetings, to covering expenses, paying a stipend or offering stock options. Recognize that your board will find benefit for themselves in other ways too. Being involved will introduce them to new people, ideas, networks etc. As well, it provides a way for them to give back. Talking up front about compensation, and varies methods, you will find out what the advisor is looking for. Keep in mind that each member might want something different so its important to know what you are comfortable offering. Personally, I have a variety of advisors who are compensated in very different ways, but none have an equity position in my business as of yet. I found that many retired professionals are looking for ways to give back so being on the receiving side of their 'tithing' wonderful. They only ask that I pay the favor forward which I do. Until next time Jude
Re: Success Re: Success - I study success intently, and would like to share: Here's two excellent and nearly identical success-formulas from a couple of the world's masters. FIRST FORMULA: 1. Passionate Desire 2. Clear, Definite Purpose 3. Committed Decision 4. Take Action In Faith (Bonus Secret Sauce: 5. Repeat Consistently) I made a video about this, but am not allowed to link it yet. Google "Ryze Success Steps" for it. Oh, and this is Napoleon Hill's (Master Of Success Laws)'s Formula. SECOND FORMULA: 1. Passionate Desire 2. Understand It Is Already Done (Faith) 3. Relax & Allow It To Unfold (Go about your life calmly) This one is courtesy of Abraham-Hicks (inspiration for the movie The Secret). Hope that helps!
Success Strategies Success Strategies - How to get the results you want now? Success Strategies and Action Steps I have used are: The Power of Choice Where you are at this present moment, is exactly perfect from the choices you have made. If you want to be somewhere else, you have to decide clearly what that is (your goal/outcome) and create action steps to achieve this. The Power of Focus The book "The Power of Focus" by Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen and Les Hewitt, is one of my treasures in my Entrepreneur Library. If you focus on what you want versus what you do not want, your conscious and sub-conscious mind will direct attention to this. The movie, What the Bleep, Down the Rabbit Hole, explains this in detail about quantum physics and what we create in our lives. The Power of Commitment This is not about commitment to others. The first step is the commitment, your word, you make to yourself. Accountability and responsibility are additional success strategies and ingredients to creating the success, defined by you, that you want. The commitment to others reflects your integrity, your word and the team you work with. Co-workers, clients, yoru family, friends and community. My Success Acronyn in Success Breakthroughs(c) is: S pecific & self-directed U nlimited opportunities & possibilities C reate powerful outcomes C onsistent measureable results E xperience pwoerful transformation S olution and action-oriented S uccessful habits and outcomes Break Through to Powerful LIfestyle & Performance Choices Moira
