Idiot! Why do you think that way...what's wrong with you?!
You think it or sometimes say it.
I was in a discussion last night about common sense and the popular statement was made: "People should have more of it".
I would argue that there is no such thing.
"Common sense" consists of what people
in common would agree on: that which they “sense” as their common natural
understanding. People use the phrase to refer to beliefs that— in their
opinion — most people would consider of sound judgment, without reliance on
study or research, but based upon what they see as knowledge held by people “in
common”. Thus “common sense” (in
this view) equates to knowledge and experience which most people allegedly
have, or which the person using the term believes that they should have.1
The
difficulty of 'wishing that others had more common sense' is that the
person using the term rarely, if ever, takes responsibility for the
fact that they are talking about their own belief, from their vantage
point in the context of their limited view.
You don't hear them say:
"I
have a view that is the sum total of my experiences, history,
geography, race, culture and the era in which I was born...incorporated
into a philosophy that I invented, deduced or inherited, and, in my
opinion, is how all people should live and act for life to work. You
should agree with my philosophy and view...and if you don't, you are a
problem to me. Never mind the fact that you have devised your own
solutions, philosophies, strategies and belief systems...they are
flawed and invalid because they are not mine."
What you call common sense might just devolve into your own personal plan for the master race.
I
have rarely met a person who does not dream of traveling. In fact, most
people have ambitions to explore different lands; to discover and
experience the wonders of the world, to tasted unique cuisines and
touch the craftsmanship of native hands.
I have rarely met a person who has that relationship to people; to discover each one as a unique place.
Perhaps peace comes, not in wishing that we all saw life the same way, but in exploring all the ways it can be seen.
Or so I see it.

Re: Obama or Mcain will not change anything
- I seriously hope I'm wrong, because I'm usually very positive about everything, but I have a BAD feeling that we're going to have to hit rock bottom before we can climb back to the top of this economical ladder. I think the US is blind to the fact that we are losing the war of economics. We owe so many other nations money (esp. China) that soon they will be able to take over everything and we won't have to worry about who WE want for president. We're posing PHYSICAL wars and not even realizing that we're getting stomped on MONETARILY. As I said, I hope I'm so wrong.......just got a strange feeling in me. Anyone else feeling it?
Re: Review My: Trump 4 President Site
- I think the site is great. You've done an amazing job already in the short time since you started it.
The thing I would probably change right now is the SBI banners in the sidebar. They clutter it up a little too much and they have nothing to do with anything the site is about. I don't see any visitors caring about building a website.
Another thing that has me baffled, and maybe I am just reading it wrong, but there is a line in the middle close to the top that says this...
"Will He Run Win Lead?"
That makes no sense to me. Is there supposed to be some punctuation in there or did you write it wrong and just haven't noticed to correct it? I don't know.
Re: Feedback on a New Company Name
- Promo 101 Tours is catchy, but just doesn't get the point across and is too vague, which would attract too many of the wrong people. Virtual tours is fairly widely known as real estate tours - again the wrong audience. Another reason for the name is because authors are looking for a "VBT" - that is a virtual book tour or a virtual blog tour. At the moment, authors are a big and fairly natural target market for me.

Re: Any UK Snow = Chaos
-
If we get so much as a smattering of snow in the UK, everything falls apart (we even get the 'wrong kind of snow', which screws up the rail system for days. In fact in Autumn, we have had the wrong sort of leaves fall, which also causes a catastrophe).
[/quote:3pjxwboq]
I'm originally from Minnesota, where [i:3pjxwboq]nothing [/i:3pjxwboq]stopped for snow. Six inches of snow fell during the night? No problem - school delayed two hours, everything else - be there on time!
But here in York County, VA, on the coast, as Shri points out, if we even get a light dusting of snow, everything grinds to a halt! It's hilarious...
Re: Will Politics Help Or Harm Your Business?
-
Well...Obama has won...
Democrats have increased their presence in both House and Senate...
Welcome to four years of socialism in the USA...
Everyone should remember where they are - financially speaking - at this moment, and four years from now, ask yourself, are you worse or better off?
I know what[i:1gsmr3gf] I [/i:1gsmr3gf]expect to be.... hope I'm wrong...[/quote:1gsmr3gf]
That's what I keep saying - for the sake of this country, I hope my impressions and concerns are wrong. I saw a link for a video on YouTube the other day and it was a clip with a single mother and she said, "Obama's in office, I won't have to worry about paying for gas or my house anymore." I know there are several ways to take that, but... what does it sound like to you??? This country does not need more people getting paid to do nothing.
