Sam Walton passed away in 1992 but his legacy lives on. It is estimated that if the Wal-Mart chain was its own economy, it would rank 30th in the world, behind Saudi Arabia. If Sam Walton were alive today, he would be the richest person in the world, with twice the fortune of Bill Gates. How did a farm boy from Oklahoma accomplish all of this?

He Had Fun: “I always prided myself on breaking everybody else’s rules, and I always favored the mavericks who challenged my rules,” he said. Walton took a light approach to his business, never too serious to resist change and never unwilling to poke fun at himself. He wanted to ensure that both he and his workers enjoyed coming to work each day. He laughed on himself and makes the work place joyful.

Tom Peter asserted, “Never trust a leader who do not keep toys in his chamber.”

Leaders love fun and joy. The joy of a spirit measures power of leadership. Even joy can lead to net love. Love is the essence of leadership. Joy can easily connect the people in the organization. Joy doubles the productivity and motivates people to take initiative in the organization. Wall mart is a proven example in the world.

True leadership is to create joyful environment. Real joy motivates people to create worthwhile.

Leaders love to laugh….and joy lies in fun, attempt, involvement and not in the richness. “Joy comes from using your potential. “Quoted by Will Schultz.
