Good People Aren't Hard To Find

The old phrase "Good people are hard to find" is alive and well. I don't believe it. I meet good people every day. The tragedy is that many of these good people are hiding beneath a veil of low self esteem and we can't or won't see beyond. The other main reason we don't see the good people before our eyes is that we are not attractive enough ourselves. Like does attract like.

Here are 14 ways to see the good people and be one yourself

1) Ensure your personal values are defined and measured

2) Align your business values with your personal values

3) Don't hire anybody not aligned with your values

4) When you do hire people make sure you hire to match clearly defined roles along a supplier - customer chain.

5) Induct all new employees professionally

6) Continually check that individual goals and the strategies to achieve them are aligned with team and business goals and strategies

7) Monitor informal performance feedback exchange. We should be general in our praise and specific in our criticism

8) Hold formal performance feedback sessions for two reasons; to celebrate performance and plan for the future

9) Never confuse people or personalities with problems

10) Keep everything simple. Simplicity is the one thing we know everybody wants

11) Have a relationship management system, just make sure it is about building and growing relationships and not about having a system

12) Your employees are your number one customers. Never forget it

13) Customers aren't always right. They are always first

14) Be the best you can be. You will meet a lot of other people like yourself then, and your life will be a whole lot happier. And you won't find good people all that hard to find at all.

Be the difference you want to see in the world.

Since 1991 I have partnered with passionate and enlightened leaders in changing what's normal for the good of yourself, other people, our planet, and for profit.

My specialisations are:
  • Change people can actually believe in and make happen
  • Change where everyone can win (the technical term is creating shared value or CSV) a business growth strategy referred to in a recent Harvard Business Review article by Michael E. Porter and Mark R. Kramer as The Big Idea.
My fourth book changing what's normal contains 58 sparkenations.

A sparkenation is a word I created to denote: a spark that ignites passion that leads to action that changes what’s normal.

You can check out my books outline, download 3 sparkenations with my compliments, or purchase here.

Re: QUESTION: What's the most important thing you do for your bu Re: QUESTION: What's the most important thing you do for your bu - Good Question Evan, Hard to answer as we always seem to be keeping several balls in the air at the same time so my answer would be to stay disciplined and focussed and trust your long term plan. It seems a bit cheesy to say that but I find it's true because if I don't stay focussed I will lose all discipline and that is something that is a must for any aspiring Internet Marketer. regards, Mal.

Re: Did you buy into the iPhone 3G craze? Re: Did you buy into the iPhone 3G craze? - Kevin, Arent you the EBay guy?? oh well, we all make mistakes....like me buying new tires at Active Green & Ross after I blew out a tire on the 401. I let the guy scare me into the sale and then when I took my care into my mechanic he told me I got hosed....and to never let anyone scare you into buying stuff again.... anyway, I'm glad you got the new battery in any case. I think we will soon be able to go completely without contracts so we arent held hostage... J
Re: Twiiter an sales Re: Twiiter an sales - Lots of different ways soldlab. I would start with: 1) Identify your ideal accounts and see if they're on Twitter. Get to know them and what they're interested in. Reply to their tweets and get on their radar screens. Before long they'll be checking out your profile and will be curious as to what you're selling. 2) Follow key words that relate to your industry. Find people who have a problem that you can solve and offer to help. Get involved in the discussion around your industry and be seen as an expert. Good luck!
