The five pursuits that turn possibility into reality

I remember as though it was yesterday when I completed my term as the National President of National Speakers Association of Australia Ltd in 2004. It had been a massive year of change and had taken an enormous effort on my part, that of the leadership team and many members. Apart from an incredible support network of people the following sustained me throughout that year.

All of us must stand for something. It is our values that determine our behaviour.

For many years now I have endeavoured to live the philosophies of the great Indian political and spiritual leader Mohandas Gandhi who had his own list of seven things he believed were perilous to humanity.

With these as a foundation I have developed five pursuits over the years that can turn possibility into reality. I continue to work at these everyday.

  1. Pursue Insight: Insight is precious, information is not
  2. Pursue Wisdom: Knowing something and not applying it is being clever. Knowing something and applying it successfully is being wise.
  3. Pursue Being Attractive: Jim Rohn said “Success is not something you pursue; success is something you attract by the person you become.”
  4. Pursue Principles: There are laws in life. We simply have to follow them. The great law is the law of the farm. We must find the fertile ground, plough it, seed it, nurture it, and then we get a harvest. The harvest is an outcome, the rest are processes. The trick seems to be to focus on the processes and detach from outcomes.
  5. Pursue Purpose with Passion: We all have a specific reason for being alive today. We must be crystal clear on our purpose and pursue it with everything we’ve got.
Be the difference you want to see in the world.

Since 1991 I have partnered with passionate and enlightened leaders in changing what's normal for the good of yourself, other people, our planet, and for profit.

My specialisations are:
  • Change people can actually believe in and make happen
  • Change where everyone can win (the technical term is creating shared value or CSV) a business growth strategy referred to in a recent Harvard Business Review article by Michael E. Porter and Mark R. Kramer as The Big Idea.
My fourth book changing what's normal contains 58 sparkenations.

A sparkenation is a word I created to denote: a spark that ignites passion that leads to action that changes what’s normal.

You can check out my books outline, download 3 sparkenations with my compliments, or purchase here.

Re: Your choice between... Re: Your choice between... - I will take the $100,000 and double it on it becomes millions before I spend it. Though I am crazy about information, yet I would rather take the money and turn it into a million before I spend a dime out of it. I will do it in 4 steps. Step 1 turn $100,000 to $200,000 Step 2 turn $200,000 to $400,000 Step 3 turn $400,000 to $800,000 Step 4 turn $800,000 to $1600,000. After getting the goal of step 4, I will spend the $600,000 on myself then continue to double the millions again. I could then by the book for $1,000,000
Re: The greatest gold mine in the world Re: The greatest gold mine in the world - When I saw the title of this post, I immediately thought, "YOU are the greatest asset to be mined". Yes, our brain IS a gold mine, but even richer is the asset of YOU with your mind. I like to think of each of us having a genius to be unveiled. Your gifts and abilities, along with your mind, are brought to life by who you ARE. It is your sense of passion and purpose which will unveil the greatness within. When Shri mentioned thinking outside the box, it made me think of possibility. When we open up to possibility and bring our whole genius along for the ride, well, the sky is the limit! Let's use our minds and our hearts and see what incredible things can happen! Warm regards, Tami
The Celebrity Apprentice - Episode 5 The Celebrity Apprentice - Episode 5 - In this week's 2 hour episode, I think the only logical choice was for Vinny to leave the show because he betrayed the trust of both the men and the women. Sure it was Piers' bad idea to spy on the women in the first place, but Vinny is a grown man capable of making his own decisions. For instance, if Vinny was such a noble person and felt so strongly against the ruse to begin with, he should've voiced his opinion from the start and not agreed to be used as a sacrificial pawn. At the end of the day, the celebrities are on a "reality show" and no one is pointing a gun at Vinny's head to be a rat, nor is Piers his "real" boss who he has to obey. On reality shows like "Survivor", "The Real World", "Project Runway", etc., contestants will lie, backstab and even cheat on their girlfriends or boyfriends to win the game...so being a rat or double agent is nothing new. Piers maybe ruthless and a jerk for the way he wanted to kick the women while they were down and manipulate poor Vinny, but he's just playing the game (and playing it well might I add). I think Vinny is taking the game too personally and as an actor, he should be able to tell the difference between reality and a "reality show".

Re: Global Moderators Re: Global Moderators - [quote="Evan":2aeuy81o]Thanks for the opinions everyone - any other moderators want to weigh in and GT and I can discuss offline with your input?[/quote:2aeuy81o] Hi Moderators, As a new moderator I don’t really feel I should comment but as you have asked for input then I am happy to reply. I am the sole and global moderator on another forum which is neither as large nor as influential as this one but I have become quite used to spotting spammers. I can understand Trent’s concern about the need to respond quickly because if I don’t go in every day there is no-one else to do it. I think that all moderators should be able to delete posts in any section as long as we are given guidelines but maybe banning authority should be limited to Evan and GT. As GT has pointed out, there is the possibility of banning someone incorrectly but with the experience of the moderators here, I think the chances of that happening would be slim. My only suggestion would be that maybe if you do decide to give all moderators the authority to ban someone then perhaps we should include an appeals procedure which I am sure would be a big turn off for a genuine spammer. regards, Mal.
