World at Work Trends - The Impact of Charisma

Guest post by: Nikki Owen

Article Overview: According to a detailed analysis of the world’s shifting trends and dynamics, Manpower Inc has identified a critical mega trend that is vital to sustainable growth during these tough economic times; Demographic and economic shifts are accelerating the talent mismatch. In an economic environment where organisations are pressured to do more with less, businesses and governments will continue to demand more specific skills and behaviours. The pressure to find the right skills in the right place at the right time will increase as working age populations decline, economies rebound, emerging markets rise, and the nature of work shifts. This will intensify the skills mismatch.

World at Work Trends - The Impact of Charisma

That’s why organisations need an agile talent strategy to attract and retain the talent required to achieve business strategy. Yet this strategy alone will be diluted unless organisations recognise the importance of developing a charismatic mindset within their talent that will leverage the ability to align skills with the new job roles.
If an organisation simply implements a process and competency development programme without addressing ‘below-the-surface’ areas then performance, efficiency and results will be hampered.
Yet to change and empower the mindset of an organisation’s talent requires a non-traditional approach. All learning, behaviour and change happens at an unconscious level, therefore to provide mindset development in a logical, left-brain way will be completely ineffectual.
When organisations embrace a more cutting-edge approach to their learning and development strategy, particularly for talent and high potentials, they will experience an instantaneous shift in output.
Cutting-edge techniques that embrace Quantum Physics, Epigenetics, Noetic Science, Energy and more right-brained approaches can often be perceived as a stretch too far! Yet whatever the perception of these methods, they can deliver extraordinary results.

Global research by Hewitt Associates, pioneers of measuring employee engagement in the early 1990s, established that employee engagement is significantly higher within companies that are enjoying double-digit growth. Subsequent studies and research have consistently found that one of the quickest and most effective ways to build high engagement is by developing authenticity and charisma within leaders, managers and high potentials.

With a rapidly changing global economy, today’s corporatism needs to adapt quickly and decisively to enable effective transitioning. Change often challenges employee morale meaning that the ability of leaders and managers to inspire, reassure and unite is more vital than ever before. Leadership qualities that worked well in yesterday’s environment can be perceived in today’s climate as traditional, out dated and often inadequate. Increasingly, Leaders at organizations that are achieving double-digit growth recognise that to change and empower the mindset of an organisation’s talent requires something more than a non-traditional approach.

Charisma also plays a major role with shaping the mindset of high potentials and talent so they become far more flexible and responsive to the emotional turmoil that strategic change can inevitably create within the workforce. Many forward thinking organisations that naturally see engagement as an essential component for achieving double-digit growth, have chosen to invest in today’s talent by introducing charisma as a core competence. Yet, charisma is not a set of behaviours than can be taught conventionally, because the minute you ‘try’ to install a new behaviour you will hinder and compromise an individual’s authenticity. By working from a charismatic mindset perspective, the expression of behaviours becomes individually congruent and authentic.

Over the years, organizations have been slow to embrace new ideas and in turn, NLP, Emotional Intelligence and Social Media were dismissed as ‘airy fairy’ and lacking commercial relevance. Today these same organisations are routinely incorporating these methods into their leadership and talent development programmes. Organisations that view charisma as an intangible and not relevant to their commercial environment are missing a trick, and may wake up to find that their competitors have a unique advantage that can only be attributed to the charisma of their high potential talent and their leadership teams.

Charisma builds engagement. Charisma wins the hearts and minds of others. Charisma connects an organisation’s vision into a personal and emotive quest with every employee. Charisma is today’s corporate ‘must have’ because of what it can leveral in term’s of an organisation’s potential.

This is your 2nd post, not many have made such an impressive contribution to start with. Excellent. What can we say about this subject and be constructive. One thing is sure, nothing stays the same for ever. Trends change, fashions change, peoples perspective change etc. In fact we can never exhaust the continous changes that take place all around us. Many of the changes happen without us recognizing it until later; sometimes too late to stop it, if need be. PS, English is my second/third language. If you can write the above better, please do it an let me know. I want to learn to write better and better.

Social IMPACT!! Marketing - How it will change your Business Social IMPACT!! Marketing - How it will change your Business - SEO,SEM and more recently SMO have been the catch phrase for those wishing to optimize their sites for the search engines and all will see you gain some level of success, but I am about to introduce you to a new catch phrase SIM or Social Impact Marketing, a system that has been developed at Kooiii tested on Kooiii and proven to be more effective than any of the other 3 systems in use. When we started Kooiii 6 or so weeks ago we were building a site that had nothing as far as SEO,SEM or SMO properties it was lost way back in the depths of most search engines and had an Alexa rating of 3.8 million, it was lucky to get 12 visitors a week and that was mostly my business partner and myself with the odd visitor that somehow found their way to the site by mistake. Our original idea was to build Kooiii as a Search Platform that was capable of spidering some of the most popular social networks, however we realized early on that those coming to Kooiii would also want some form of social interaction with our site if it was going to go anywhere so we implemented a simple to use Micro-Blogging system as the front end of the system we were putting together. Not having money to promote our new baby we had to resort to using all the free avenues we could find in order to attract people to the site, of course this meant utilizing as many of the social networks we belonged to as possible, Not being spammers and not wishing to appear as such we decided that we would simply keep active on the social networks while sharing and posting to our profiles from kooiii, it was at this point we realized we were onto something suddenly within a week we saw our Alexa drop dramatically and our membership start to grow not only on Kooiii but also on the social sites we belonged to, people seemed to be drawn to us like we were magnets and Kooiii went from 4 members (all admins) to over 1500 members quickly. By teaching those that joined Kooiii to also share member posts on the social networks, not only those we were posting but other members posts as well we saw the birth of a completely new way to promote something, see everyone saw the same effects we were seeing not only was Kooiii skyrocketing up Alexa but the members sites and popularity were also soaring and so Social Impact Marketing came into the world of the Internet. So lets re-cap SIM it's a system where members of Kooiii cross promote each others offers using a socially connected Micro-Blogging system creating tremendous buzz about the offers throughout the wider social scene in other words causing Social Impact using Marketing techniques resulting in massive targeted traffic generation to a specific site or page for basically no monitory outlay.
