Affirmations are not only a creator of motivation, alignment and discipline. They also create focus, speed and meaning to all actions in our life. Have you noticed that affirmations do not work like most self-help books say? Let us continue exploring what an affirmation needs to entail to be able to give us the benefits we so often hear they can bring.

3) Make your new way into your new habit

Most people don't recognize their habitual, almost unconscious thinking. The majority of people have habitual patterns of negative thoughts and they don't realize it because it has become a habit and part of their way of life. What if your thoughts tend to be negative? For example, thinking that you're not good enough, or that life is unfair, or that you never have what you really want or need.

If you're not aware of your dominant thought, you may put yourself in a downward spiral without even knowing about it. A person may be worrying about being over-weight, being a bad manager or being unfit as a parent. Even if these persons are using affirmations their habit of worrying may get in the way. To become aware of our dominant thought is crucial to overcome it with a new powerful, positive affirmation.

Let's face it; to worry about something is making what we are worrying about very real. Why do we otherwise worry about it? I mean, if what we worry about is not real it would be the same as - being scared of Santa clause when being grown up, and know he don't even exist. We need to take our worries seriously. They may impact us more than we may think at first.

You need to become consciously aware of your negative thoughts and you can't pretend that they don't exist. You need to either acknowledge these thoughts and replace them one by one with a positive thought or simply accept the condition or reason for these negative thoughts as a natural part of your being and a part of your future success. When a negative thought comes up, we need to immediately detect it and acknowledge it - so that we can exchange it with what we want to be.

One trick is to simply say "Stop" when a negative thought comes up and replace it with a positive thought. Every time it comes up.

4) Affirmation always make you take action in the right direction

This is the last and most important truth about affirmations. An affirmation in itself will not give you your end result or your achievement. It will though keep you moving in the right direction. If you notice that what you're thinking and planning stop or hinders you from doing things that move you closer to your goal - it is a waste of time.

If your actions make you stand still or even move backwards. Doing affirmations correctly will turn you in the right direction. They will always make you take action, do beneficial decisions, find information you need and make you move in a direction towards what you want to achieve. This is the power of affirmations.

We will have to make sure we are reaching our goals in a healthy way. As we move forward we will learn all about how to reach our goal in a professional and balanced way. But never let this stop you from taking the first steps in the right direction. Affirmations are an excellent way to keep us facing the right way so we can learn what we need to do to reach our goals.

Focused meditation, praying, visualizations and affirmations are according to my experience all part of the same concept. They are all helping us get ready to become what we want to become or get ready to achieve what we want to achieve. Be it a better person, parent or just lose some weight. And doing affirmations right demands our full attention. They make every fiber in our bodies want to become the affirmation.

Re: Don’t worry, Enrich your life and Be happy Re: Don’t worry, Enrich your life and Be happy - [quote="Christopher":2b2448ak]I am a born pessimist. Can I do something to change my negative thoughts into positive ones? I try very hard not to engage in negative feelings. However hard I may try, I end up with the most antagonistic mental state. This has harmed me in many ways. I really wish I could think better![/quote:2b2448ak] Hi Christopher First of all welcome to the forum, I am sure that you will enjoy being here and will learn a lot. As far as always feeling negative, I would suggest that first of all, stop continuously telling yourself that you are negative. By doing that you are actually affirming it and your subconscious mind will endorse it. The subconscious mind believes whatever you keep telling it. Try some positive affirmations. Say them out loud or to yourself as often as you can (even if in the beginning you don't believe it) and whenever you find yourself thinking negatively, stop and repeat some of the positive affirmations. Don't expect miracles, it is not an overnight process, but over time you will find your mindset changing for the better. Hope this helps MichelleJ
