Inspiration Is The Foundation For Motivation

Being motivated by someone else is typically a byproduct of inspiration. In other words, people may be in the audience listening to a speaker discuss how they overcame obstacles in life or what is called a defining moment.

For example, after practicing for an international triathlon competition in Saint Thomas, United States Virgin Islands, my two teammates and I were robbed in our sleep. I woke up the following morning and things didn't seem right, so I checked on my two friends and we soon discovered our watches, rings, cash and other personal belongings had been stolen.

We immediately contacted the police and we were told we were very fortunate the robbers didn't kill us. This true story does a couple of things for me, first I'm thankful my friends and I were not killed and second, I'm alive and is writing this article.

Since that incident, I have been inspired to live my best life possible, that's not all, I am motivated to tell other people about the obstacle in life I encountered so they can be careful when traveling to another country. As you can see, inspiration always precedes motivation. Some people are inspired by a random act of kindness, others by life experiences and some people are not inspired to do anything.

If I were to ask you, your why in life, what would it be? The fact of the matter is; different people are inspired to do the impossible, embrace the stimulus that moves them and ultimately motivated to achieve success in life. What about you?

I will never forget the story of Thomas Edison who reminds us it's not the fact he tried and failed 10,000 times to invent a system to generate light, he was inspired by the process and the reality that he never gave up trying.

Edison's inspiration consisted of a passion for wanting to improve the quality of life for all people; he was literally motivated by a desire to be able to see at night, just like he could see during the day. Add this to your tool kit; never give up on your dreams, ideas and goals in life. Inspiration is the catalyst for motivation and as long as you recognize it's going to take work, dedication, commitment and bull dog determination, and perseverance you will make a world of difference in the your life and that of others.

Think about the first man to step foot on the moon. Do you think the first man that stepped foot on the moon was inspired? The answer is yes he was and he was motivated to show the world it could be done. Since that first voyage to the moon, NASA has conducted numerous experiments that have led to medical breakthroughs, methods of growing food, impact on the human body and academic insight.

Before I conclude this article, I believe everyone should live an inspired life, one in which others see your results and is motivated to live their best life possible. After all, we were created to be an inspiration to one another and all it takes is a little inspiration to get into motion, to be motivated to achieve goals. Here is to you identifying inspiration in your life, leading to motivation. Ultimately your motivation will make a difference in the life of others.

Describe Your Inspiration/Motivation Describe Your Inspiration/Motivation - I'd like to open up discussion with the group to identify how us entrepreneurs keep you goals insight without loosing Inspiration for what got you going initially. Being an Entrepreneur can be a lonely road at times and I'd like to dig up and have people describe the fire they hold inside. I'm hoping that through this exercise I can acknowledge and become aware of my fire that I'm having trouble verbalizing.
Re: What inspires you? Re: What inspires you? - Inspiration is nothing it is what you called to do? Some work for money, some work for satisfaction, some work because they have priorities in life. It is the passion to do something for achievement or to show that you can do it by using one's talent. I know there are people who are doing great things with their limited skill sets. So, my view point about inspiration is to Dream Big and try to achieve it. I would rather add "Listen to your self". Listen to Inner guide and follow it. You will reach great heights. Robert

Re: Finding AND Keeping Good People Re: Finding AND Keeping Good People - Employee retention or as you mention “Keeping the Good People” is one of the biggest challenges for any growing business. It takes a huge effort from the entrepreneur’s end. I can come up with the following when it comes to KEEPing the good people- 1. Motivation of the employees 2. Recognition of the needs of the employees 3. Activities to make the employees feel valuable towards the organization 4. Make benefits more accessible 5. Offer profit sharing incentives 6. Create clear career paths at the company 7. Consider telecommuting, job sharing and other flexible working arrangements 8. Incentives are essential and they don't have to be huge 9. Have other managers praise an employee's work 10. Be sensitive to the balance between work and private life
