If you want to be become a successful leader you’re going to have to get into motion. What do I mean by this?
I’m glad you asked and I will explain what I mean by getting into motion. Dreaming and setting goals to become a successful leader is good, however if one is to accomplish their goal they will need to take action.
Taking action involves making a full assessment of yourself. Start by answering the why in your life, in other words why do you want o become a successful leader? Chances are you want to become a high achiever, achieve excellence in all you do and to reach your full potential.
After you make a full assessment of yourself, write down the goals you wish to achieve as a leader. Do you want to lead your organization and or business to higher heights, earn more revenue, become an industry leader?
After completing your assessment and writing your goals, make an inventory of the leadership programs, courses and or classes you have attended. Do you have the level of leadership that merits sufficiency? Perhaps the time is right for enrolling in and or attending a leadership program.
Next, have you identified a mentor to guide you on your leadership journey? This is critical because it will accelerate your learning curve. If you haven’t identified a mentor, perhaps you can identify someone you emulate and or respect as a leader.
Some examples may include Colin Powell, Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton or the head of your organization. We can all learn something unique and special about other leaders, o matter if we have direct associations with them or not.
One of the most critical aspects of becoming a successful leader is to be positioned to lead others. Practical experience counts even more than academics. Understand that when we put ourselves in a position to lead other people, it means we are fully committed and dedicated to the idea of improving the organization and people we lead.
It’s through experience that one sharpens their leadership tools. The people you lead represent the measurement by which you will see the results of your leadership expertise. In order to be the best leader you can be and to succeed at it, you must be focused.
Being focused may entail knowing your job and that of your staff better than anyone else. You will also reflect the vision for your organization and lead people to get on the same sheet of music with you to achieve what has never being accomplished before, achieving organizational excellence.
Can you lead your organization to excellence? The answer is unequivocally yes you can. One person can change an organization and an organization achieving excellence can change the world.
Embrace the challenge before you, lead from the front while achieving success as a leader. You can do it because you were born for greatness, so be great.
