Dare To Be Exceptional

The potential to be exceptional exists within everyone. There are no exceptions. Being exceptional is not defined by what you have or what you do, rather by how you think.

Your mind is THE single most important asset in your business. Extraordinary achievers are ordinary people who make extraordinary decisions about the events in their lives.

Your decisions drive your destiny and shape your future. What decisions did you make last year that have shaped your outcomes today? If you are dissatisfied with today, what decisions are you willing to make ... right now ... to drive a different tomorrow? Two Extraordinary Achievers … Making Extraordinary Decisions… Creating Extraordinary Success

In my e-booklet, “The Mindset of Greatness: 21 Principles To Becoming an Unstoppable Business Woman … Oprah Winfrey Style!,” I address the power of decisions and their life defining impact on Oprah’s mega-success.

Even in the midst of poverty and abuse, Oprah decided at a very young age she was going to be one of those people who made things happen. In her teens, she came home from a church recital in LA and vowed to her father that her handprints would someday be in the concrete courtyard of Grauman’s Chinese Theater with the other stars.

Oprah decided as an early adult that she would be a millionaire by 32 and the richest black woman in America. She decided to be the architect of her destiny. The rest is history.

As a young business man, Donald Trump made a deliberate decision that he would change the skyline of New York City and make it the most beautiful city in the world. Even with the billions of dollars that Donald has lost throughout his life, he made a choice that no mater how much he lost, he would always recreate the wealth.

It would be easy to justify reasons –- such as lucky breaks, best education, wealthy parents, etc -- why these exceptional achievers have reached levels of success and wealth few people ever dream of. Yet the truth of the matter is, everything … yes, everything … they created in their outside world was first created in their minds. The same mind … the same ability to make compelling choices … that you, I and every person on this planet have.

CHOOSE TO BE EXCEPTIONAL

Decisions make the difference between extraordinary achievements and mediocre results. All exceptional achievers make clear deliberate decisions about themselves, their future and their role in the world

The word “decide” comes from the Latin word “decidare” – meaning “to cut off all other possibilities.” Decisions go beyond merely “wanting” an outcome. Wanting to build a million dollar business is very different than deciding to build a million dollar business. When you decide your business future, you cut off all other possibilities. “It’s a done deal” in your mind.

While you can’t change your past and the challenges in your present may “seem” insurmountable, almost every aspect about your future is yet to be decided. Do you choose to settle in your business? Do you choose a path of struggle, hard work or misery? Or do you choose to rewrite the script of your future and become an exceptional achiever … however you define that?

The choice is yours.

Re: Getting *back* to the next step Re: Getting *back* to the next step - I think small things can make a big difference. Cut corners when ever possible. To the point that you don't lose any business. For example: start using cheaper products around the office. You'd be surprised how much money you can save just by going to a less expensive brand for the same items. Start soliciting referrals. People are happy to give you a good one if you've done a good job. You just have to ASK. Word of mouth is the most powerful form of advertising and it's the least expensive = free! Turn off lights and computers and even pull plugs on appliances on the weekends, or even every night if you have time and aren't using them. This saves a lot of energy in the long run and you should be conserving energy anyway. Dare I say this......shake the printer ink and make it go another 50 copies. Over a year you can save quite a bit in ink costs. There are other cuts you can make that won't impact the quality of your service/product if you sit down and really think it over, but this is a start.
