Your business only grows as quickly as you, your mind and your thinking do. If you want to create a $1,000,000+ business, you must think like a $1,000,000+ business owner. You must in your mind’s eye already BE a $1,000,000 business owner.

The seven mindset principles below are crucial to building a $1,000,000+ business. Print this list, and refer to it often. Devoting as little as 15-30 minutes per day to shifting your mindset is THE single best investment in building your $1,000,000+ enterprise.

1. THE PRINCIPLE OF TRANSCENDENT PURPOSE

Great companies and great business leaders do great things that leave a lasting legacy and make this world a better place for you and me. Such leaders create CAUSES, not businesses. If you want to get to the $1,000,000+ level in your business, you must have at its core a “transcendent” purpose for its existence - a purpose that bigger than yourself and your own self-interests.

Viktor Frankl, the great Austrian psychiatrist,said it best: “Success, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue ... as the unintended side effect of one’s personal dedication to a cause greater than oneself.” What is the transcendent purpose of your business? How can you make your business a vehicle for making a differencein your customers’ lives?

Marketing is **not** a battle of products. It’s a battle of PERCEPTIONS. It all starts in the customer’s mind. Perceived value, first and foremost, is what attracts customers to your business. Real value is what retains them. What are you doing to create perceived value in your customer’s mind? Are you winning the battle of perceptions?

Re: What would you be willing to do for a million dollars? - I had a sister in-law who came into a LOT of money when her husband died of a heart attack and left behind 3 kids as well. He had set it up so that they would be WELL provided for the rest of their lives. Unfortunately, she went out and blew it all, got pregnant and had another child to add to the household and married in less than a year. She lived in luxury for about a year and then realized she had nothing. We are even paying part of her bills for her now because she couldn't manage her money. Having learned from this myself, I would have no problem with getting $1000000 over night. I would search my surrounding communities and find people who I thought really needed and deserved the money and share it with them. This has always been a dream of mine anyway. I would also build a safe house for abused people. It doesn't take a lot of money for me to be happy. In fact, it's really hard for me to buy anything over $20 or at least 70% off. It's just wasteful. Helping other people makes me much happier. I once gave another sister who had fallen on hard time just a $100 bill and you would have thought I gave her my next born. The appreciation and the look on her face was worth far more than I ever could have bought with that money.
Re: Great start, but no finish - Hi Guys, I always, always recommend a starter upper read THe E-Myth by Michael Gerber. Many of those that decide to start something dont realize how much work, and how multifaceted running and building a real company is. This books shows people the ins and outs in a simple and effective way. As far as commitment goes, they have to be willing to become lifelong learners. If they arent willing to do that, I have very little hope in their businesses getting past the 1 year mark. There's alot of self reflection that has to go into starting a business, and recreating your life essentially. I also recommend books and resources like The Success Principles by Jack Canfield.
