Energy Vampires Are Sabotaging Your Organization

Employees can readily identify the 'energy vampires' within their organizations. Many managers don't know what to do with them. This allows them to breed and fester. Rarely do they realize how much these victims are costing their company by sabotaging morale, performance, productivity, and customer service. They are sucking the positive energy and life out of the organization, one negative remark or action at a time.

During the work week our 'walls' go up as we attempt to defend ourselves against the energy vampires that seek to attack and feed off of us. On weekends and during vacations our walls begin to come down as we begin to relax and recharge. But once Sunday arrives we begin to prepare for the vampire energy battles once again by raising our walls. This causes what most of us have experienced and referred to as 'The Sunday-Night Blues.'

Most companies deal with victim negativity by either ignoring it or firing them but, if you do not address the environment new victims will always pop up. The best way to reduce negativity is to create a leadership environment where your people are infused with the "tools and insights" necessary to stop the energy vampires from growing and multiplying.

There is a growing need for individual and organizational leadership. By developing our authentic leadership we connect with our internal power as individuals and organizations leading to greater alignment and synergistic results. Most people would be hard-pressed to describe what authentic leadership really is or what it looks like. We are so exhausted by the daily challenges of working and living that we have little time, energy or interest in such reflections. What's more, we were never taught to be leaders by our parents, teachers or employers because nobody taught them. They didn't know what they didn't know.

Leadership is not a position it's a choice.

Coming up with a business name Coming up with a business name - I've always been curious about how people select their business names and would love to hear how you came up with yours. When I first started my company I was selecting between Evan Carmichael & Associates or the Carmichael Organization. The reason was I had read two books by Anthony Robbins and Donald Trump and learned about how they came up with their companies names to make them look bigger than they were when they were first getting started. Robbins chose Anthony Robbins & Associates while Trump chose the Trump Organization. I settled on Evan Carmichael & Associates and later changed it to Evan Carmichael Communications Group when I incorporated on the advice of my lawyer. I agree that it is not the most innovative name out there but my business is about building a brand. I would love to hear how you came up with your company name!
