What is being "stuck"? This is often the feeling of a person that is either in a rut or has made an unwanted turn in their professional and personal journey. Today, are you exactly where you envisioned that you'd be at this stage in your career? How about your life in general? Are you doing the things you need to do to get there? If not, you're "stuck." If you weren't you'd already be there.
It is not enough to simply look at ourselves in the mirror, or at our peers, and say, "I get it. I know where I want to be." If you are not backing up that statement with an action, you DON'T get it. You are just talking or thinking about it. In order to really "get it", follow these tips we offer today:
- Stop lying to yourself. Don't pretend everything is under control. Critically analyze your situation with a coach or mentor.
- Define an action plan. What you are going in order to make your goals a reality?
- INNOVATE! Get specific with your intentions. Do NOT place key elements of your action plan under the authority of someone else, only to later blame others should your initial efforts fail. Take control and enjoy the benefits of your leadership abilily.
