How the Mighty Fall
"The Nemesis of the successful is their own arrogance. It closes their minds to learning , so the only thing left to do is to fall.
This week's discussion begins a series of discussions regarding the most common barriers to long term success. The temptation to believe in one's past success.
Unfortunately we live in a society where most people identify themselves by the make-believe status they relentlessly slave to create. The danger begins when our pride in those past successes begins to blur our vision for the future. When we begin to believe that we have found the key to the "promised land" and it is now time to relax and reap the rewards and prideful passion that accompanies it. This is a dangerous position for a leader. It often is the signal to be feared most. The "fall" is near.
Here are some keys to remember when making your ascent as a leader:
- Embrace the reality that you will never "know it all".
- Take pride in empowering others
- True champions are the ones that make their team better through creating opportunities for their success.
- Continue to examine your motives. They are the lifeblood to your success.
