Do you use your voice when you publicly speak?

To use the voice to best effect in a presentation involves us having to put a great deal of effort into the way we manipulate it. So how do you best use your voice? 1. Adding some confidence. If our audience doesn't believe in us, then why will they bother giving us the time of day, let alone sit through our presentation?

2. Conviction in what we are saying is also key. Putting across our passion, despite the fact that we are genuinely convinced in our own argument, can cause our audience to doubt us and put question marks over what we have to say.

3. Enthusiasm, too, is essential. If we are confident and are convinced in our own arguments, then very likely we will also come across as enthused. Being enthusiastic is also infectious. If we sound all fired up by what we say, the chances are we will have an easier ‘sell in' of our ideas than if we appear not so turned on by the subject matter in hand.

4. Our integrity is also something that must never be brought into question. If we try to bluff our way through a sticky patch, we can be sure the audience will almost certainly catch us out with the result that nearly everything else we say may also be challenged.

5. Of course, if we can show we have a widespread grasp of the subject in hand by being able to show off our knowledge, then that too is very important, though not necessarily essential. Or is it? Broadcasters most often talk about a subject with which they are not very familiar. After all, not every broadcaster can be well versed in every subject. But the fact that they have done their research thoroughly gives them the wherewithal to ask searching questions of their interviewees and, as such, shows them to be ‘instant experts'!

Finally, having a good voice is certainly a valuable asset, but is hardly essential to a good presentation. Few are blessed with really beautiful voices, but there are thousands more who are good presenters.

Promote your products with voice Promote your products with voice - If you have a great speaking voice you could actively promote your best selling product, like you could say "Looking for xyz? You can buy it now for 10% off" and as soon as they hear the product in voice it will capture their attention... where as they could possibly ignore promotional text on a webpage in comparison. The only reservation I have against using voice is that it may feel a bit intrusive to visitors having someone talk to them. In fact everytime I visit a website and hear a voice start talking I just turn my volume down or off completely.
Re: How many nationalities are on the forum? Re: How many nationalities are on the forum? - Hi Rainmaker, So how many language can you speak? Kevin it is also good to be able to understand Cantonese even though you don't speak it well.
Re: Voise SMS feature on mobile...Yes/No Re: Voise SMS feature on mobile...Yes/No -
As far as spam is concerned, how about if you are aware of the destination from where it's arriving. I myself believe if I had to use this form of communication and I have to choose any one of them by spending same, I'd go for the Voice SMS. Anyone else thinks the same or majority people likes to avoid SMS communication.[/quote:1j8d830z] Hi Ashish, If I registered for something like a business seminar or social event, I can see the benefit of being reminded via text message on my cell phone. However, I'd still prefer text over voice SMS because even if you hired a person with the clearest voice to deliver your voice SMS... I'd still need to listen to that message twice to write down the contact person's info/phone number (if it's different than the one used to leave the message). That's a hassle as I may not have a pen and paper down with me.
Re: Voise SMS feature on mobile...Yes/No Re: Voise SMS feature on mobile...Yes/No -
Hello Members, I just came up with a question and thought to share with you all. If your mobile service provider comes up with a voice SMS feature, do you think its a good idea? As a customer would you like to have it on your mobile or do you think text message is good enough for now? If somebody comes up with this feature what do you think, how will it do in the market? Any opinion?[/quote:3h0a6swd] Interesting question. At the moment, I receive occasional SMS text messages from my service provider Telus which I consider it to be "phone spam" and delete them immediately. But to answer your question, I'd prefer to receive SMS in the form of text messages rather than voice because it would less hassle for me. For instance, I could scan through a text message with my eyes faster to see if I was interested without having to hear a long drawn out voice message about something I may not even want.
Re: How many nationalities are on the forum? Re: How many nationalities are on the forum? - Hey, Kev: I call myself Canadian ... but I can't speak French! :-[ My oldest granddaughter just started Play School (I think that's what they call it) and she is enrolled in the French Immersion class. That is great! I think it is valuable to be able to speak more than one language, and I think it also helps to stretch the mind and exercise the brain. GT :-]
