How hungry are you?

Do you know what you want to achieve? Do you really want to succeed?

To have any chance of being successful and wanting to achieve what you want in your life, you must have a personal vision.

Having a vision is about using your imagination; it is about stretching your brain to think differently. It's about training yourself to focus on where it is you want to go, what it is you want to achieve.

A vision is important because if you can't see yourself living your life differently, if you can't envisage a world where your product, your service, your idea is necessary for others' business success, then you don't know where you are headed.

It would be like going on holiday without a destination and no road map.

You will get somewhere - anywhere - and you might enjoy the view, but you don't know where you are, so you can never tell others how to find the location, and you can never go back there.

That may appeal to some but most of us need a map and the destination for where we are heading.

Once you have your clear vision you need goals.

Having goals is vital because they are the stepping-stones to achieving your vision. Without goals your vision remains a dream. That's obvious, you might say, but it is amazing how many businesses fail because they don't know where they are in the marketplace; they haven't got a business plan and they are not monitoring their progress.

It's the same with individuals. You may personally fail because you don't have a plan and you are not monitoring your progress.

Have you ever watched the TV programme, The Apprentice?

There was a high level of self-belief and self-motivation amongst most of the Apprentices. There were some idiots, I know but I was confident that most them had the energy and wisdom to succeed in business.

Take some action now!

If you have your vision of where you want to be in, say, 6 months time set a precise target date and a series of small sized goals.

Do something each day that takes you that one step close to what you want to achieve.

Don't think about it. Do it. Just spend one hour doing something today, before you retire in front of the TV or bed.

Don't worry about making mistakes because it is from mistakes that most people learn.

Then every month review your progress, check that you are still on course to achieve what you want. Change your goals if necessary.

And remember to reward yourself when you have achieved your goals - that can be the best bit!

Re: Does a New Company need a "Big" PR firm? Re: Does a New Company need a "Big" PR firm? -
I agree with SHri, it really depends on the target audience and how much service you really need. if you are doing National campaign than you want a firm that has the National contacts. Lots of smaller companies dont have as many resources or connections. Many firms are going to a pay for performance model which I think will do the PR and advertising industry good. no more $5000 retainers for sending out a couple of press releases - no matter how well written or targeted! if they dont get picked up, they dont get paid. J[/quote:23enhep1] Those retainers were insane and from a lot of people I talk with, the company really wasn't earning it at all. Other firms earned every penny, but its easy for some people to get comfortable doing as little as possible and still taking those retainers. Pay for performance can help make people "hungry" - when they are "hungry", then tend to be more motivated. Shri

Re: Does Anyone have any New Ideas for a Business Re: Does Anyone have any New Ideas for a Business -
I'm not the kind of person that would "go for it". I have to analyze the situation and only after to start it. And if someone would take my idea I would feel very bad. But even so, I still believe things would go the same the second time..[/quote:2oka22eq] Hi Anelly, I think that's smart because it's better to find a target market (i.e. hungry customers with a "need" that must be filled) as opposed to running out and creating a product/service that you "think" will do well in the marketplace. Moreover, just because someone takes or implements your idea first, doesn't mean you can't put a twist on it and beat your competitor.
Re: What is your age? Re: What is your age? -
what does age got to do with making money? We have seen Teenage Millioniares. Young Millioinaires and older Millioniares who became millionaires over sixty.[/quote:6b9rl9vv] I agree. I would be more interested to know how a person's childhood influenced his/her future success. For instance, was there a particular person or situation that played an important role? I often find that people I know with a single parent or less money (when they were younger) tend to achieve more in life. Perhaps it has to do with being more "hungry" for success.
Re: Water balls - funny business idea Re: Water balls - funny business idea -
$1000 is not too costly for the waterfall if they market it well. They should market it to corporate bodies who have enough money to burn on advertisment[/quote:7t0dim7x] Well, you have a point here. Although, not all people could afford that amount especially when there are good and also cool marketing tactics around which are FREE! People are so hungry with freebies nowadays. So as this Water Ball could really be of high quality to sell upfront, you can start promoting it on web posting your website on "free ads", free press releases, etc to increase your traffic. Then once you've gathered your audience, it's good way to start selling.
