The 4-Hour Work Week: What Would Excite You?

Written by: Andrew Rondeau

Article Overview: I have just finished reading The 4-Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss. The book concentrates on how to reduce your working week, how you can work from anywhere and how you can become rich, so you can do the things you really want to do.

The 4-Hour Work Week: What Would Excite You?

The book asks: “What Do You Want?”, “What Are Your Goals?” and suggests one way to help you decide is to ask yourself “What Would Excite You?”

It got me thinking.

I have worked full-time each and every week for the past 28 years (except holidays!).

If I could reduce my working week and had unlimited money, what would I do? What excites me?

Based on that scenario, it is actually quite hard to decide what I would do.

Tim offers help by stating list things you dream of having, being and doing.

I would love to have:

* A huge house with uninterrupted views of the sea with an added spa and sports complex, and a personal cleaner, garner, driver cook and trainer

* A brand new Audi R8

* A slim healthy body

* A complete set of new clothes worth $50k for my new slim, healthy body

* A $100m Management Business

I would love to be:

* A great cook

* A great artist

* A number one selling author

* A world famous public speaker

I would love to do:

* Travel around Europe in my new Audi R8 staying in first-class accommodation

* Spend a year travelling around the world, first-class

* See all the wonders of the world

* Visit Las Vegas and come home $1m richer

* Professionally sing in front of thousands

Am I dreaming big enough?

Why don’t you share your dreams – it may help others.

Go on.

Re: When do entrepreneurs retire, if ever? Re: When do entrepreneurs retire, if ever? - Why would you ever retire when you love what you are doing? Sell the business and start another one maybe - but retire - NEVER! You should all read, The 4 Hour Work Week - By Timothy Ferris. He talks about building your business so that you can take mini 'retirement's throughout your life, instead of saving it all up for when you are old. Great concept - what do you think??
Re: How to Manage Your Emails Re: How to Manage Your Emails - GT has some great advice here and I have aspired to getting there, I am trying at the moment to unsubscribe from people who are constantly wanting to sell me things and to just keep the emails from those who actually give some good information amongst the sales pitches. It is hard to be ruthless, but if anyone has read "The Four Hour Work Week" the advice in there is to get rid of those mails, they distract you from your main task and are just time wasters. Re: Should bad tippers be exposed on Social Media? Re: Should bad tippers be exposed on Social Media? - Should bad tippers be exposed on Social Media? No they shouldn't. I guess the customer must have used a credit card, or possibly a cheque (do people still write cheques nowadays? I haven't written a cheque since 2001 - after 7/11 my UK bank refused to send me a chequebook because they were tightwads hiding behind "the threat of terrorism" but I have done just fine without one) or maybe even an IOU. This is an excellent argument in favour of paying in cash... and I had almost been persuaded by the 4-Hour Work-Week argument that you should pay for everything with a credit card that earned you air miles... In a world of angry cry-babies, CASH is still KING!!
Re: Blog Talk Radio Re: Blog Talk Radio - [quote="BuzzAroundBooks":8lxd7hlg] Hi Shri, As a suggestion, perhaps you could structure your radio show to cover 4 specific book genres every month by interviewing one author per week? For instance, Week 1 would always be business books, while Week 2 could be romance works, then Week 3 is mystery, etc. I think having a set routine will help to build loyal listeners over randomly having a new author from any genre each week.[/quote:8lxd7hlg] I could do that, but I'm using the show as another avenue to promote my clients and the topics they need to highlight are varied each month. Their books will dictate part of what I feature each month. There are other people that I will work in as time allows and they are chosen for a variety of reasons. So, the show is part of the overall promotional campaign that I'm creating for clients. Shri
